    My 1st house clense experience

Ok so as some here know, we are currently renovating our investment property, for us to move into.

I wanted to clense the house as it has had very negative relationship's in it since approx 1984...

Anyhow, got some info from here.. (big thanks to marydean ) and then went to the local shop in Warburton who sell the sage, she gave me a quick example and off i went. (One thing i noted of her sage is, when she lit it, it bellowed with smoke, and she waved it around and it continued to bellow smoke)

So, came time for me to do it...

So i light it up, get it bellowing.....

Start in the master, planning to work my way through the house then outside and around the perimeter.

My bellowing smoke started to slow down..... and as i got into the 3rd corner of the master room it died out. Ok no worries so i re lit it... it got harder and harder for it to bellow the way it did at the shop. BUT, i kept going with the little amount of smoke it would produce, having to re-light it constantly.

It got quite frustrating, and i started to feel as though it was being fought... (do i sound crazy??)

So, i just proceeded with a small amount of smoke, always re-lighting....

Two days later i felt i should do it again...

This time, OH WOW... it started to bello with smoke the way it did in the spiritual shop.

As i went around the house again, it felt like it was thinner, like it wasn't being fought.... i got to do the whole house with nice big bellowing smoke!

I just would like to do it one more time....

So, tell me those who know more.... is what i presumed was happening, actually happening? or was it something else?

I'm so sorry Papillon, I know I don't belong in Metaphysical, but do you mean 'billowing' instead of 'bellowing'? I am giggling at the idea of this smokey sage yelling and bellowing at the top of it's herby lungs around your house. Sorry.

I would actually say that it seems quite appropriate to imagine your sage bEllowing to the neg energy to bleep off!!!!!!!!!!!

And as someone with no experience in cleansing, i am thinking the same as you- that obviously the sage struggled at first- but with your persistance, you an the sage worked together and cleansed the energy- i would do it again too just to be extra sure!!

    Well done on the cleansing!!

Hi Papillon - wow sorry I didnt' see this thread earlier.

Typically, a space that contains a lot of dense "dead" or heavy energy puts up a lot of resistance. If you are drumming/chiming a bell, the sound itself is more muffled when you start and actually increases in pitch, clarity and resonance as the space clears. It's one of the ways that you know whether to keep clearing or whether the space is clear again.

So I'm not surprised to hear there was resistance to the movement of your sage smoke, given what you know about the history of the place. Remember that as well as clearing out the old energy, you need to 'set' or 'tune' the new energy that you want the place to keep. This can be done using your intent, prayers, sound (eg tibetan bell) and also by sealing the new energy ritually, eg by lighting a candle in a colour that is significant for you, leaving an offering to your spiritual guides/guardians, etc.

Sounds like you're doing a great job - remember you can clear any time the house or it's occupants need a "lift"!!

yeah it sounds about right with the smoke being fought. it's amazing how determined negative energy can be in maintaining it's status quo.

we had a real hard time in one of our houses and it did take a fairly constant vigilance to keep it in check. if you feel the house needs more then i would go with that.
and like MD said you kinda have to set the ground rules for the house once you have laid claim to it (so to speak ). this can be done through many ways depending on the energy that you are up against. for me, it meant a whole lot of repetition of 'the rules' in each room and creating a wall around us personally for protection if things fell by the wayside.

    HTH!

yeh I think it was being "fought", what you can also do is clap the energies out - the kids can even get involved in this - just move around like you did with the sage stick but clap instead.

I'd probably also walk around the outside of the house as well.

Also grab some clear quartz crystals, charge them up - I usually bury them in a pot for a cycle of the moon (earth), sit them in some salted water for a cycle of the moon (water), let them sit under the moon for the 3 nights of the full moon & then smoke them with sage. Then put these in the corners of the house outside, imagine the house being surrounded by a bubble from these crystals.

    Red face Sage Stick Trauma

    Papillon,

I'm reading this out loud to my partner (who is also psychic) and he says straight away, "dodgy sage stick". we laughed... and yes, i think dodgy sage stick in combination with trying to shift imprints (spirit energy left after crossing over) might have caused that.

What works much MUCH better than sage is a house cleansing/ space cleansing by imagining the energy of unconditional love flow through the house and foundations and washing the whole space. The house also feels lonely; i could teach it how to be a home, to be loving and safe for you and your family if you like? There were a couple of shadow-imprints and i actually pulled them (i hope you don't mind).

Another thing to think about is to keep the place "alive" - kids always help but also use plants and flowers in the space. Energy flows much better when there is life in the home. Cacti are particularly good at clearing negative energy, and only need a little water and some love.

I hope everything settles down - and all that sage smoke can't be good for you :S phew!

    Blessings,

    Rowena

    Rowena,

I appreciate your reply. Found it very interesting. I tried to PM you, however, you have the PM function turned off.

Would like to discuss a few things you have said in your reply....

how does the smoke actually work at cleansing the space? ...and is incense sticks sufficient if you do not have any sage?

Id also say place a mirror at the front of your house, near your front door to reflect any negetive vibes and energies from coming in.

Make sure that you dont have any elephant ear plants near that room (on the outside) as they invite negetive and evil spirts to come in.

I think when I come to Melbourne that I have to buy some sage sticks...we have NOTHING like that up here and my house need's a good clean out

Frankincense resin works best for me. We have a charcoal burner. I go room to room. I get it in bulk from different places, but you used to be able to get it from Perfect Potion, I also have got it from Esoteric Bookshop (which has an online store) and Spellbox in Royal arcade. I prefer charcoal burning and herbs/resins as oppose to smudge sticks, as they've never done much for me.
