HELP! Dishwasher leaving gritty stuff on dishes

Just wondering if anyone has had this problem. Most washes my dishwasher leaves this awful gritty stuff all over my dishes mostly on the glasses and mugs, you can't just wipe it off it really sticks. I've tried different tablets and a dishwasher cleaner nothing seems to help. I'm wondering if it's just the cheep dishwasher (came with the house) it's a fisher and paykel but it looks like a cheep one not one of the double draw ones or anything!

If anyone has had this happen to them or has any ideas on how to fix it I'd really apprieciate it

    TIA

Are you rinsing your dishes properly?
I put plates that had had mashed potato in Mum's dishwasher years ago without rinsing and that's what happened to them.
I'd suggest doing a load with it empty to clean it out but you said you'd tried the cleaners so I'm all out of ideas.

we had this happen a while back - ended up pulling the filter out and scrubbing it, running it through with dishwasher cleaner, etc - it has now resolved itself. we found it wasn't drawing the rinse aid out of the holder for a while - not sure WHAT changed with all the cleaning, but it's now using the rinse aid again and no dramas with gritty dishes!

Thanks Girls, I've just given the filter a good clean and it did seem to help a little but I actually don't use rinse aid maybe that's my problem. Next time I'm at the shops I'll get some and see if that helps.

As soon as i read your first post, i thought Rinse Aid. When our dishwasher starts to get gritty we know it is running low. It definately does stuff.

Do you need rinse aid with tablets?

Yep! i think some of them claim you don't need rinse aid if you use tablets, but ours never works properly without it. With both, it works great.

when we got our FP, it actually said in the paperwork that it isn't suggested to use tablets in that model of dishwasher - not sure if it's all FP dishwashers, but it definitely said it for ours. i'm pretty sure there was just a blockage in our rinse aid dispenser - we had this problem maybe 5 months back, and nothing since then...
