    Unhappy vomiting and dairy ...

DD vomits after eating anything dairy ...

is this more than a "cows milk protien" intolerence .. her relfuxhas calmed down since i stopped eating cheese and butter and having less milk ..

but she has had baby youghurt lately (2 different types ) and have vomited afterwards ..

today she had some and vomited big time ... is it a coincidence .. she was put in to her bed (waay after she had the youghurt , about 45mins) and cried alot , went in to check on her and she was face down in her vomit .. she was not impressed !!

i am seeing a pattern with dairy .. but unsre what to do ..

any one with babies who are dairy intolerent .. is it differnt to lactose intolerent or its it something else all together ????

i have stopped the youghurt all together till i find out what i should do

    TIA

Could well be milk protein intolerance - sounds like it to me!
Lactose intolerance is the one that causes milder symptoms, such as smelly poos, lots of gas and bloating. Milk protein intolerance often has much more severe reactions, like vomiting, and the only way to avoid milk protein is to cut out all dairy. Depending how bad it is, it might be worth cutting out everything that has any dairy in it, including biscuits, most kinds of chips (cos I know that's her staple diet - lol) or leave it in there, then take it out experimentally later on. Small amounts can just make children irritable, I find, because they're uncomfortable and they don't understand why.

Lactose intolerance has varying degrees. Some things are marked lactose free when they contain miniscule amounts, and we know all about it when we find one of those ones . Sometimes Em will vomit, it was more when she was younger, but every time she will have diahorreah and a blistery sore nappy rash. Does she poo much after she has it too or is it only vomit?

I would suggest that she gets some testing done to work out if it is lactose or CMPI, ans they do have similar symptoms, but severe LI bubs will react to BM which makes me think it is more likey be cows milk protein.

Good luck Lea, try her on some Soy Yoghurt if you want to give her yoghurt.

Ususally either a poo sample or a hydrogen breath test, both non invasive. If they do decide to do skin pr!cks they are not painful. Em didn't know anything was happening.

Hun, they may never grow out of it *groan* at the stupidity of GP's in this matter. My girls are both allergic to cows milk. This isn't an intolerance but an allergy. We have not had any dairy in our house in over a year now. As soon as I stopped all dairy intake, Jovie didn't have reflux anymore (funny that).

I went to an allergy/well being specialist in Brissy who cost an arm & a leg who tested Matilda and did kinesiology testing on Jovie. My girls are not lactose intolerant, or even milk intolerant, but are allergic. Intolerances can develop into allergies are allergies are less likely to be "grown out of" I listened to that advice for 3 years with Matilda and I wish I could have taken that time back. I was told she was a "difficult" baby, than a "tantrummy toddler" and then that she had "failure to thrive" as she was loosing weight, and never did a formed poo. We did poo samples for lactose intolerance when Matilda was 2 years old and were told that it wasn't the problem... it wasn't...it was the protein allergy. But the GP just shrugged. So I followed his advice... I shouldn't have, but I did.

When Jovie was 11 weeks old, she had reflux and was refusing to breastfeed, so I wet to a lactation consultant who took one look at her & one look at Matilda and said "your children are allergic to milk" I looked at her and said "So, what does that mean?" She put me on the total elimination diet and Jovie was better in 2 weeks. She still refused some feeds, but her reflux was gone and I got special formula from the GP to help when I didn't have enough milk. I weaned her off that formula entirely and only used a few tins. She breastfed mostly until she was 18 months. Then she went straight onto rice milk.

Occasionally the girls have had a biscuit or something with dairy in it... we see a reaction every single time.
