Ok, so Miss M is on soy formula - the homeopath told us to put her on soy formula when her constipation was getting so bad she was bleeding in every bowel movement. (not to mention the screaming we endured from her)
So she is on soy, has been for a few months, and is still constipated, though has probiotics now so they are much better.
DH went to a health food store today - and saw a naturopath cos we had run out of probiotics.
He described her symptoms to her - and she said to get her off the soy formula ASAP - that she isn't lactose intolerant, but rather she bets its a casein allergy. *sigh*
I'm so sick of changing formulas.
She told us to go straight onto goats milk formula.
Yes i have heard of this before. If you can find her (Katones) on here give her a quick email. She has put her little boy on goats formula and he is thriving on it and from memory he had problems with constipation too. She is a great lady and I'm sure she will answer your questions on Goats formula, either that or she will send me a PM and get mad coz i gave out her name.. lol
What a PITA for you Mel. It might be worth a visit to a paed allergist - unfortunately the best ones have a 12 months waiting list in Brissy but maybe you'd get in sooner up there? But I think it might be worth it for you to actually KNOW what's going on as opposed to continual guessing and second guessing. I hope you find some answers hun.
how bloody annoying!! But maybe, just maybe it will fix her problem hun Think of that!! Then it wont matter that you have been stuffed around cos little miss will finally be able to poop without pain!
Hun, can you go along to your GP and ask for a script for Neocate (which is a hypoallergenic formula)? I've not used it, so I'm not well-informed, but I know that it's with the script it's alot cheaper than regular formulas.
I'm tipping that the second naturopath is right, and she has issues with both dairy and soy. Maybe look into having some testing done so you know exactly what you're dealing with.
SS - very frustratig - not to mention expensive!! Grrr - only got myself to blame for not BFing though I suppose
Hollye - yeah Kat and I talked about this ages ago when she was deciding whether or not to try goats milk (she's a clothie girl)
Mel - yes i like that idea - I wonder if there are any up here? Its taking me ages (6 months) just to get DS seen to by the opthamologist - hate to think how long other waiting lists are for specialists (especially if they are ones that work in Brisbane and visit an office up here) I'll talk to the GP about it.
Janie - oh yay - dairy and soy!! I know I can't complain cos she could have more serious problems than just this and she really is the happiest little bub.... but gee whiz...
MEL , the natropath told me to use goats milk before any other formula ..
DD is BF and sometimes needs a top up .. she even told me just to use plain goats milk .. but Miss M needs formula , not just milk ...
I hope you find an answer soon ... go to a pead and ask for a referral to a specialist .. not just a peads word , kwim ...
i have seen peads , then seen specialst and got 2 totally different answers ..
