DS1 is 19 mths and is wetting through his nappy every night, sometimes twice. He woke up at 5am today and was wet right through, clothes, sheets and blankets. He woke the night before last at 3am the same and then when he got up at 8.30am was wet again!
He has a bottle of milk when he goes to bed, but he always has and has never wet through before, occasionally he still wakes during the night for a bottle, then he only has half, which has also never caused wet throughs.
Its been suggested to put him in a cloth nappy and plastic pants over night, Will this help?
Does anyone have any other suggestions? He is so cold when he wakes up in the night all wet and then i have to shower him and remake his bed, usually by the time thats done DS2 is awake too!
I depends on the cloth nappy, a good night time cloth nappy might be good, but not with plastic pants over night - they dont breathe well, and arent normally recommended for long periods - you'd be better off with a wool cover.
Do you have any? You are potentially looking at at least a $50 investment to buy both new if you dont, and thats if you just get one nappy and one cover. But there are online sites where you could get them secondhand.
you may find that its a transient thing too, DS went through a couple of periods of splittig open his disposable nappies, I used to poke holes thru a pad and stick that in the nappy as well to try to boost it a bit. It usually lasted aroud a week or so and then he went back to normal.
One thing I have done is use a cloth nappy booster and put that in the sposie. I helps them go a bit longer. I actually made some up out of hemp for my sister and she uses them every night. But you can buy them easily too, and they are not too $$. And I also cover my night time sposies in a fleece cover, which can also help contain the wet a bit too.
DS had a stage like that and this sounds odd but i used girls nappies and it stopped - but he was weeing up the side kind of (this was a few months ago)
someone at this stage also recommended doubling up - with 2 nappies.
or could you just chg him when you go to bed to prevent it?
pooor little thing.
