I finally got up the courage to go back to the gyno and request a lap to see what's truely happening inside me and causing pain and other yucky stuff. I figure I will one day (soooooon) meet Mr right and would like to know now if there are any issues that may one day prevent me conceiving easily. Hey my clocks ticking, I don't want to be wasting precious time when I can check something out now and maybe fixing it.
Anyway, I got the referral from my gp today and the appointment is at the end of this month.
I have been investigating what is normally done in a lap procedure - so I want to make sure I ask that biopsies be taken and areas of endo removed while he's in there. I know I have an endometrioma on my left ovary, so I want him to clean that up while he;s there.
Anything else I should ask for? Or say I don't want too I suppose. Like for example if he gets in there and there is something horribly wrong with my ovaries, he wouldn't just get rid of them would he (I know questions I need to ask him!!)
Hi Ausgirl, I only just saw this now so I hope it's not too late to answer.
Any gyno worth his salt will remove anything he finds at the time you have the lap done. This will also include taking samples to send to pathology (as that's how they comfirm it's endo) so you wont have to ask him to do that. Are you having the dye done as well to check for any blockages in your falopian tubes? Both times I have had it done my gyno was very thorough (same one both times) and he never missed a thing. When you go for your follow up, he may have photos to show you of what they did etc.
