do microfibre boosters die after repeated washing?

So I'm sorting my nappies, washing them, working how we'll plan to use them (of course all plans will probably go astray real fast, but still, it's fun to plan.

I have 24 cloth wipes (ImseVimse ones, I think they are organic cotton, very soft). And I reckon that won't be enough for starters with a newborn.

So I'm wondering whether there is any harm in using some of the nappy boosters for wipes as well?

I have 6 bumgenius nappies (which come with a small insert and a larger insert) and 6 baby beehinds nappies (which come with small inserts, large inserts and the magic-alls come with little booster things)

I figure that for a newborn you don't need much absorbency, so all those larger inserts won't get used for a while, until baby grows into them. So why not use them for wipes, toss them in the wash with the rest, etc.

But maybe this would result in them disintegrating from over-washing? What do you think? I would hate for the inserts to die before they get used in the nappies. They are more expensive to replace than simply buying more wipes.

Some of them are microfibre (bumgenius). Some are bamboo (baby beehinds).

Can anyone tell me whether your microfibre or bamboo nappy inserts lasted the distance of years and years of washing, compared with how the nappy lasted? Or do they die before that?

Hmm, am I getting paranoid? It seems like the silliest question, honestly. Maybe I'm nesting? Everything just has to be *perfect*!

I wouldn't personally do it, for a start I wouldn't use microfibre directly against bub's skin, even as a wipe, as it can be irritating.

Repeated and long term use can degrade any fabric, some more than others. From my own experience, microfibre tends to flatten but not degrade. I know some people here who have had quite a few problems with bamboo (myself included). The biggest degradation of bamboo seems to be from the ammonia in urine, especially when teething, but not so much from washing as such. It can depend on the baby as well - some people never have a problem with nappies disintegrating and use them for multiple babies successfully and others do have problems.

I have some nice wipes, but mostly use cheap facewashers from best and less. I'd suggest just getting a few packets of these rather than using boosters.
