Red face How were you proposed to???

at the moment, dp and his cousin are on our back deck discussing how he is going to propose to his girlfriend. all the plans are sooo romantic and well thought out. it got me thinking how some of you lovely ladies were proposed to?

i got completely shafted, i was hanging out washing when ds was about 8 weeks old and dp came up to me with a ring and asked if i'd be his wife. where's the romance in that huh???

hopefully some of your partners were a bit more romantic...

Well I think the way your DH proposed sounds GORGEOUS Renee and a great story to tell the kids.

    XDH proposed over the phone.

DP and I mutually decided not to bother.

Not much use in romance sharing stories unfortunately!

My mum says she can't remember how dad proposed which I reckon must mean he proposed in bed.

DH went down on one knee in the middle of the street at 1am, when I well and truly should've already been home!

I love that! That sounds so beautiful!

My DH did propose on Christmas Eve, aussienic. We were sitting on a beach in Thailand, watching the sun set over the ocean, and he was really really quiet for half an hour, and he kept taking deep breaths and then nothing came out! So I sort of knew what was coming.

A hug and a whispered "do I have to get down on one knee?"

    Minor disappointment there.

We were out on a work function (for my work..when I used to work for a cleaning company, great bunch of girls to go out with they were a lot of fun!). We went to a Mexican restaurant for the "dinner and a show" thing..only the show was a drag queen show... it was great, very funny. Then after the "intermission" the drag queen came and dragged DF up on the stage and gave him a lap dance, ripped his shirt off, and then said something about there being a special lady in the audience...so then she/he came and dragged me up on the stage and said there was something DF wanted to ask me, he got down on one knee (still laughing hysterically from his drag queen treatment) and asked me. It was sweet, he put a lot of thought and planning into it, from asking the owner of the restaurant if he could do it and then organising with it the drag queen, and most of my work mates knew about it but I had no idea! Although I did get an inkling something was going on... Whilst not exactly romantic, it certainly was different!

My DH proposed in our bedroom with a simple "I want you to be my wife". No grand gestures or getting down on one knee... not even a question, just a statement! He was shaking a lot though, which was kinda sweet.
I found out a few days later that he had planned to propose on his birthday, but just as he was about to propose I jumped up to check on his cake that was baking in the oven. I guess he lost his nerve - then two days later he proposed.

we were visiting his family in italy, and we went up on this really high mountain with an old abandoned castle and were were the only ones there, and we were sitting on the edge of the cliff face looking over pisa and florence and he pulled out the ring and asked me if i would marry him!

it was awesome and i almost fell over 100 times on the way back down the mountain as i just kept staring at the ring! LOL!

    love reading the stories!
Haven't been proposed to properly - we've discussed it, and I told him I'm not going to consider asking me if I would (in that hypothetical sense), in bed, a proposal.
Not that I want the ring, either - for my own reasons. But some thought would be nice, as its absent from most other interactions in our coupled life!
Keep the stories coming - it's nice to live vicariously!

Sitting on the rocking chair, in pjs and daggy dressinggown....feeding DD#1 whom was 4 weeks old. Phone rang, DH got it, i heard him whisper 'im about to do it...'....'Do what?' i thought.
Anyway, piece of vegemite toast in mouth, watchin morning show with Bert Newton, and in he comes, gets down on one knee and says 'will you marry me?'......so romantic.....

I love the fact he picked the ring himself (not something i would have gone for, but ticked the white gold box anyhow)
I love that he took my dad to the pub 2 days beforehand to ask for his permission

I finished an evening shift (end of a massive run of shifts) so picked him up at 2230 from his work in city (had to stay back to finish some things off), he directed me to go for a drive and told me where to turn we ended up down at port Melbourne on the beach and he got down on bended knee and propsed to me and gave me a pretzel as a ring (had bought a pack from vending machine before he left work) as i always said i wanted to pick ring together.

    Was very sweet.

My brother recently propsed to his fiance and he planned a nice lunch out up mt macedon near the cross.

we had already talked about it and picked a ring so I new it was coming just not when.

He actually proposed over msn (thats is where our relationship started to it made sense to me) he had typed it up then went and got the ring was came back to the lounge room pressed enter and then was standing behind me lol. I though it was great, I turned and said yes he joked and said wanted it in writting on msn as proof.

DH told me when we'd been together a short time he was planning on marrying me - so he took me shopping to get ideas of what jewellery i liked. i wasn't sure when it would happen, but knew it was coming!

he was working away and got home late one night - we were snuggled in bed talking about our plans for the next day which involved DH meeting my grandparents for the first time - he asked me if i'd like to introduce him to my Nan as my fiance instead of my boyfriend! then asked me if i'd marry him - was very sweet. he took me to the shop next morning to pick up the ring he'd picked (was one of a few that we'd looked at) and then took me off to my nan's and introduced him to her as my fiance! was so sweet
