Talking Help me name our chickens!!

DP just dropped off 4 chickens this morning - they are sooooooooooo cute!!

One is named - Foofa. Punky loves Yo Gabba Gabba & Foofa was the first chicken to come & say hello to her. Foofa is white with black specks.

There is a copper coloured one, a black one & a kind of mottled tan & black one to go...

I was thinking maybe Miss Moneypenny for one...

    Suggest away!!

My chooks always have had the old female names like "Harriet" and "Gretal" etc... but when the girls name them they have names like "Amy" or "Sally"

HAhaha I do like older names though.... like Mae and Matilda, and Greta for girls too though. I have a lot of respect for my chooks too, they are a huge help in keeping our house green.

Cacciatore. Coq a vin. Tikka. Teriyaki. Honey.

Of course, you probably don't want to name laying hens after chicken dishes... Maybe after egg dishes instead - omelette, custard, frittata...

OK, I'm going to go away now, and maybe I can think of something better when I'm not hungry

Three chickens I have owned that had names are
"Polly" She was a black bantam & I would call her "Polly Polly chook"
There was Henny Penny. She was my first chicken, I loved her heaps. I had her & Quackers the Duck.
Then we also had "Githa". She was a brown bantam. DH named her after one of teh witches int he Terry Pratchet "DIsc World" Novels.

I first thought of my & my Dad's all time favourite cartoon character " Foghorn Leghorn " or the cute little chicken with the big glasses in the same cartoon called " Egghead Jnr " or Egghead Jnr's Mother " Miss Prissy "

I was going to suggest Mable and Rosie... don't know if they go with Foofa.

What about Flox (Floxy) or Chauncey?

Oh I love your names so far (Foofa and Miss Moneypenny - classic), and really like the suggestion of 'Funky Chicken'!!

I named one of my original chickens Mrs Bocka, another Wing Wah (don't ask!)

At the moment I have 2 Rhode Island Reds, I asked a little 4 year old friend what he thought I should name one of them and he matter of factly replied "Peter" so Peter it is! When we got her friend recently, she was so cute and little next to the 'old bird' that I had to call her Poppet. Peter and Poppet are very cute together!

    Sorry hon.

Along the 'Peck' line of thinking, what about Cluck or Scratch?

The Banana's in Pyjamas have Begly and Peck. I like Henny Penny, and lots of other nursery rhyme chook names.
