It has been a long time coming but Mackenzie is finally walking! Today she did 8 steps in a row. She still crawls most of the time but thinks it's a great game to stand, walk then fall! I'm sure her confidence will continue to build.
It just goes to show that not all the babies are the same! We had so many people wondering when she was going to walk and were surprised when they found out she wasn't at her age (she's 19 months today).
I just wish the baby books stopped writing when things "normally" happen cause really, she just felt like walking later! There is nothing wrong with her physically or mentally - she just didn't develop these skills until now. It took me a few months to accept that it was okay for her not develop her skills when the other kids did or when the books said she should!
Yay! I hate the word 'normal'. Normal is what your child acheives when they do it! Perhaps below the statistical average would be more appropriate - never the less - she's done it - no stopping her now!!!!
wahoooooooooooo! yay mackenzie! i am with you J, I know it is a relief when it happens... N is now walking MOST ofthe time but is still very 'wonky'!!!
Isnt thelookon their face when they workit out just the most gorgeous thing?I thinka benefit of being a mum to a late walker is being able to see their delight at it all - as they are mentall in a diff space as they work it out iykwim?
Enjoy!!!
How wonderful for your family to enjoy! Don't worry, I was a very late walker -- I waited until my younger brother turned up and I needed a new trick to grab back some attention -- and I turned out perfect
Go go walking Mackenzie! I bet you're soooo stoked Jordie!
So right about the timing. Both of my cousin's DD's haven't walked until after 18 mths - I guess they were just happy being ground-dwellers until then! LOL
