For the last two or so weeks I have been losing a lot of hair, which is really noticable, since it is down to my bum and goes all through the house (even more so than usual). Its not coming out in clumps, but I just always seem to have loose hair everytime I fix my hair tie, take off my polar fleece top (hairs sticks to it like nothing else), or its on Ryan, and last night the Man even pulled one out of the back of Steph's pants!
This afternoon while I was putting Ryan in his car seat and all bent over, the Man stood behind me (no, its not like that.... ) and pulled all this loose hair off the back of my top and skirt after I thought I had got it all!
He then said that the same thing happened when Steph was about three months old and suspects it is from bf.
Huh? I remember it happening then, but I don't know why. Anyone else? I was taking vitamins up until about a month or so ago, maybe a bit longer, but ran out and haven't had the money for more. Could this be it?
Yep, this is totally normal. I am not sure if it is a BF or post natal thing, but I had the most unbelieveable amount of hair falling out for about 6 months after having DD. I thought it would all fall out for a while there! But it didn't, eventually it stopped happening and it was never enough for anyone to notice from looking at me (apart from all the hair that would get stuck to the back of my top too!). I have heard that it is just evening things out because while you are pg the hormones mean you don't shed as much hair as normal.
Its happening to me too! DD is 4.5 mnth and I have been noticing it come out alot for the last couple of month!! ?Im not sure why but I know how you feel!!
I had the same problem, I was shocked that it happened so long after DD was born. My hair was down to my bum when I had DD too (recently chopped it!) and it gets everywhere! Now the more annoying thing is the regrowth, fluffy baby hair (where guys hair receads) and I need to get water or spray and stick it to my head my hair is straight and lifeless so really noticable.
It is thought to be because hair doesn't fall out during pg which is what makes it really thick and why people say that pg women have really nice hair (although I know people who lose lots of hair while they are pg so that theory is not entirely accurate). Once your body stops making the pg hormones, your hair starts to fall out. Mine always starts exactly 3 months after giving birth and keeps going till about 6 months. It is horrible because as the hair grows back, I have a VERY noticable second fringe.
As my hair dresser was doing my hair about 5 months after DS was born she asked me if I had been having chemo or something . . . just the boost my self esteem needed at that point.
Yep, its started happening to me too! I'm not sure if this is an old wives tale, but my mum said night feeding makes it worse. She bf'd all four of us and said it was worse with my sister who bf'd more in the night...
Well I feel much better knowing that its pretty normal. Having said that, I can't wait for it to stop though... I told the Man today that I started this thread, and that it seems to be quite normal from pg hormones, more than bf. Couldn't quite tell from all your responses if that was right though?
As for the fluffy 'baby' hair regrowth.... oooohhhhh noooooo! (but I don't remember it last time, so it couldn't have been too bad.)
