I've just come back from my dating scan as I got my period twice in one month but going by my LMP of 25 Feb I would be due on 2nd December making me 7 weeks today. Well the lady who did my scan today said that I was 6 wks and couldn't see my little bean as it's too early. Now I'm worried that something is wrong
Hugs hun, I know how stressfull thing like that can be!
I have not gone through what you have but I know that there are alot of ladies on here that have and I know that they will be able to share there experiances with you.
I did have a dating scan for DD (as I had a previouse MC) but I waited till 8 weeks so that we could see the HB. Anything earlier than that it can be to early.
I hope that you will get some answers and be able to relax a bit.
All my LMP dates have been wrong for all 3 of my pg. Your dates may be out because you ovulated later than you thought. I don't think you have anything to worry about just from the u/s results. I have had scans done at 6w (thinking I was further along) and they only way they can see anything is to go transvaginally but I know other women in the forums who have had scans where they can't see anything at 6w and then go on to have healthy pg.
Did they book you in for another scan in about a week? If they didn't, and you are worried, it might be worth a trip to your GP to get a referral to go back in a week or two and make sure that everything is okay. Otherwise rising HCG levels on blood tests can also confirm that your pg is travelling along nicely.
They must have been able to see something on the screen to tell you that you were 6w. Like a yolk sac because they have to be measuring something to be able to give you dates.
Early pg is a very stressful time, just take every day as it comes and try to relax (easier said than done).
Why do they send us so early? A due date doesn't need to be so exact!!!!! I refused to go for a dating scan this time as it caused me so much stress with DS1.
Apparently the cycle that I fell pregnanct with DS1 was over 5 weeks long... the first time ever. I went for my dating scan thinking I was around 7 weeks for them to tell me that they could find a heartbeat. What seemed worse at the time was that the sac was measuring exactly to my original dates.
After lots of googling ( which you should never do) I was convinced I had a blighted ovum and spent the next fortnight completely miserable. When I went back though, they found the heartbeat and everything was perfectly fine.
I can't promise you that everything is fine, but it was for me. This definitely happens, and you said yourself that you went because you were not sure of your dates. I know how it feels but no amount of worrying can change anything. Go back for your next scan and please try not to beat yourself up too much before then.
I was told by my Midwife that most women s due dates ALWAYS change! Even at 20 weeks they can change. Luckily mine stayed the same date as when I was first told but she said it is surprising how often they do change.
Ayapi - don't fret! I went along to the doctor's last week after my BFP to get a blood test, the result was very low so I had a follow up test this week, and the result shows I'm probably 4 weeks along rather than 5 to 6 which I calculated from LMP.
My GP explained that I may have ovulated later than I suspected and the embryo took it's time implanting - maybe something similar has happened for you? Either way, hang in there, I know it's hard but we're all here for you whatever happens!
Wait a few weeks and get another scan, and try to relax - stress is bad for your bean!
