    Ear candling whilst pregnant

I was wondering if this is safe?
I am about 11 weeks preg, and have one blocked ear.
My doctor is away till the end of the month, and am getting annoyed that I cant hear. A friend suggested ear candling. Is it safe whilst pregnant?
    Are there any other alternatives.?
I am getting desperate, and I need something done tonight, where I will be by myself.
    Help!!!
    Please!!!!

Yep I've done it while preg.

    No worries at all.

There is not a thing in it or about it that could hurt you unless you accidently set your hair alight (which even I haven't!).

You will feel a billion times better after ear candling, it works a charm!

have always wanted to do ear candling, but never knew anyone who did.

Do you do it yourself or go to a health professional?

    Do it yourself!

All the instructions are on the candle packet if you buy a brand from a supermarket or chemist/pharmacy.

    It's dead easy.

It helps having anothing person watching on but is not much harder to do yourself.

    Hey there
    I'm a beauty/massage theraipst and i do ear candling.
Doing it yourself if fine, but there are lots of different candles and some are better than others.
I did it on a friend last week who is 8 weeks pregnant, she didn't want to take something for her sore ears cause she was worried (was an IVF pregnancy) so we candled them. She felt better within 24 hours. The doc was going to give her antibiotics, but obviously she didn't need them!
    Good luck

okay, so I have candled my ears!
My blocked eear seems to still be blocked.
There was light yellow stuff in the candle tube afterwards, is this the wax that was meant to come out? It was dry and powdery.

Yep hun, the dry powdery stuff is what you have drawn out of your ear.

Yep that sounds about right...did you burn it down until it started to crackle?

You might need two for one ear and you have to make sure they sit perfectly straight in the ear.

Of course if you do actually have an infection and need antibiotics, an ear candle won't fix it up, but it is always worth a try so you don't end up at the doctor unessecarily!

The powdery white stuff is from the material inside the candle, its not wax
If there is wax in it you can tell, its dark brown in colour generally.
There are some really crappy candles and some great ones, and trsut me i've tried alot!
The crappy one's don't do much at all but are commonly sold in alot of places.
The ones I use work great, i'm really happy with them. I buy them wholsale cause they are for the business, but i can send you the name of them if you want to see if you can get some, or we sell them through work.

What were the brand or name of the ones you used??

I also do it myself and fine ear candles really good. I think they'd be safe when pregnant too
