Cleaning Steriliser

just wondering if anyone knows how to clean an avent electric steriliser. I have tried the citric acid and water but there is still a lot of black muck that comes out of the bottom (i am guessing from the element) but there is no way of getting to the element to scrub with a brush. Any ideas?

Vinegar? Bicarb?

Or ring their info line or email them and ask what is safe to use?

just like a kettle - fill with a mixture of water & vinegar, leave overnight and turn on in the morning, swish out and rinse, rinse, rinse.

I clean my kettle with vinegar and it comes up wonderfully
