QLD enrolments

Is prep in QLD the same as kindy in NSW?
Do children start the year they turn six?
Is there a mid-year intake or does everyone start in the new year?

prep is the same as Kindy.. the 1st year of full time school before year 1..

the age sut off is the the child must be 5 prior to June 30 of the enrollment year.. eg my DD just turned 5 and started prep this year..
If your child would be turning 5 in July of 09 they would wait until the next year.. they do not do mid year intakes, unless transferring from another school

I picked up this bit of info at the daycare I visited Friday...

"Prep is the first year of school for our children.
Children go to Prep five days a week and stay all day like children in Years 1 to 7.
Children need to be five by 30 June in the year they enrol in Prep.

Child born 1 July 2002 to 30 June 2003 - Prep 2008
Child born 1 July 2003 to 30 June 2004 - Prep 2009
Child born 1 July 2004 to 30 June 2005 - Prep 2010
Child born 1 July 2005 to 30 June 2006 - Prep 2011
Child born 1 July 2006 to 30 June 2007 - Prep 2012
Child born 1 July 2007 to 30 June 2008 - Prep 2013
Child born 1 July 2008 to 30 June 2009 - Prep 2014
Child born 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010 - Prep 2015

Jensen will be starting prep in 2013.

The other thing to note is that a lot of the public schools now have catchment zones - if you don't live in the zone, you can't go to the school.
