    Temperatures

    Hi,

I have been charting temparture for 4 odd months and have some questions...

However... I went off pill in December and still haven't had period so body could be doing weird things!

    1. For the entire last week I have had 0.3 or 0.4 lower temps than normal and twice it has dipped by about 0.7 but I do an ovulation pee test and it doesn't indicate ovulation - except for very faint line (although the temp has never risen above the lower than normal average either). Does the temperature ever dip low for that long?

    2. I just have a regular digital themometer and test at same time each morning when I wake up. I thought this was testing BBTemp but then have seen specific BBT themometers in the store - do I need a special themometer or is this just a marketing angle?

    3. My temperature is not always the same each morning. 36.3 or 36.4 is normal but it does fluctuate a bit either side of this. Is this norrmal?

    Thanks!

I charted for my first month using a thermometer that only went to 1 decimal place - I deemed the first cycle annovulatory because I couldn't detect ovulation (OPKs don't work for me because I have PCOS), however, in the second month I changed to a 2 decimal place thermometer and noticed a huge difference. I was able to detect ovulation and fell pg that cycle (am currently 18 weeks pg).

I would definitely invest in a 2 decimal place thermometer if you can... you will notice so many differences in your charts - often it is the miniscul differences (like the 0.02 changes) that really help pinpoint ovulation etc.

best of luck with your TTC journey

    Hello,

Can I ask a question re temperatures and ovulation.

Does your temperature rise or dip when ovulation occurs? I am charting this because my GP told us to but he didnt tell us what to look for.

    bye for now

Redlady, google fertility friend - it is a charting website and explains the pattern you need to watch out for. It is a free site.

Also, your signature doesn't currently meet the forum guidelines, you might want to read up on them and change it to adhere to the guidelines. Guidelines are below

Hello I read the signature rules again and I didn't think I was signaturing wrong. All I could figure was that its too big. So I made it smaller.

It was more the centered text that was against the guidelines. All signatures need to be formatted to the left.

Did you look up Fertility Friend (FF) - it really is such a great resource for those getting into temping. Because it does a lot of the interpretation for you. I am in no way a FF expert but I did chart for 2 months prior to my current (and first) pg and I have long cycles so it was a while of charting so am happy to try to answer any questions if I am able to

    Hi there,

I am on fertility friend. I only started charting my temperature half way through. I was once told by my doctor to chart my cycles and temperature but I had no idea what for so I stopped. I have decided to start again as my DH and I have to do IVF and we were going to do IUI inter uterine insemination. But i need to have a good idea of my cycles.

Im just starting to get worried I am anovulatory. I don't really find I have a temperature rise. I have egg white Cervical Mucus though. If I don't have a temperature rise over the next 4-5 days I will assume Im anovulatory. But when I did the blood tests for my Fertility specialist, he said everything was normal. I will request the doctor whom I am seeing on the 18th of may to do another blood test. I just want to make sure.

Im 35yrs old. I was a shift worker and my menstual cycles were all over the place. Recently they have become more regular since taking up mon to fri 9-5 job.

    What do you think?

    sincerely

    hi redlady!

i think that the presence of EWCM is a good sign...have you tried with ovulation tests to see if you are Ovulating? you can get a maybebaby (they cost a little bit though..think around $80) and it is a kit that you can use over and over again to check when you ovulate. it is good to use alongside FF as sometimes (i have found) it doesnt always detect O. for example, i have a late ovulation and it never picks it up...
and yeah, the shift work that you have done in the past would have no doubt played havoc with your temp readings. i guess you will get a clearer picture once you have had a cycle or two at the desk job.

    HTH!
