    speech-2.5yr old boy

Hi, Ds knows a lot of words, he can say his numbers 1-10, but may skip a few. doesnt know colors yet. can make sounds etc, and knows peoples names.. can put words together like " my daddy gone to get petrol" "my daddy gone to work" and a few others.. its just that his pronouciation is bad. I have read that u should be able to understand 50% of what they are saying,.He is more about 25%. Also round us he is so vocal, but to others he is more shy.. Would love to know how your little boys at 2.5 are speaking.. i myself was a terrible speaker and spent a few yrs in speech therapy from about grade prep to grade 3. Also he seems to drop the letter "s" of some words. maybe it will come as he gets closer to the age of 3.

I would think that is pretty normal? DS isn't yet 2.5 (but he's getting pretty close to it) and he knows his colours, his numbers (but skips a few - or goes backwards instead) and speaks in sentences and is about 80% understandable. BUT - his speech is really good so we have been told (must be cos his grandparents WON'T STOP TALKING!!!)

My sister had speech therapy, but she was closer to 4 when that happened, and that was because she didn't pronounce ANYTHING correctly - not just drop the s's.

I'm pretty sure he sounds normal though - as always -get him checked out if worried though.
