Sorry don't know a great deal about it - but in saying that we had thought about it at one stage. My BIL had donated sperm to us (we still have some in storage) he passed all the medicals and sperm on freeze for 6mths before we could use it due to law - they need to retest the donor after 6mths to make sure no diseases etc.
Anyway we had thought about, we actually bought all the stuff you need to do it - but we never went ahead with it. I do believe that many couple do fall this way, however i do believe ( i could be wrong) you have to be pretty exact with ovulation etc and you should do it over a few days ( just like having normal sex and trying) also when i did my research sorry for TMI but they do say that it is better if the woman orgasm when doing it or just prior to after doing it as this helps with the opening of the cervix. Many women do it in the states with donated sperm they have frozen in there homes of cause the sperm in frozen the scientific way in a vat not in a freezer and it does work so anyway good luck with it all - all i want to say is make sure your donor has had the proper blood tests etc to make sure there are no nasties. There is also the aspect of agreement after birth, as with ivf donor issues you go thru conselling etc and come to a agreement if a child arises. When we were with sydney ivf we drew up papers (not legal) but we all had to do it even the donor, we had to cover things like, in the event of death of one of us or both etc, how much of a roll the donor would play in the childs life, and advised how important it was that the child new EXACTLY where he/she cam from, it was expained to us that imagine you are 13yrs old and you are told you are a result of donor or adoption and had no clue prior to this, well of course you would feel betrayed by the people you love the most your parents, we were advised time and time again to be honest and upfront with the child from day dot, never let this be a secret from a child that arises from donor - its just not fair to the child - and of course they need to know this for genetic purposes re health issues down the track - enough of my rambling and only wnt to wish you the best.
