    Red face Question about washing

Ok I've got a few questions about washing my nappies for the first time/pre wash ect.

Do I need to do a clean wash of my machine before the nappies to clean it?
If so what do I need to do ect?
How many times do I need to wash them and do I use the 1/4 detergent each time?
With the pockets do I need to wash them x amount of time or just the inserts?

I think that is it for now , thanks heaps.

some materials (bamboo/hemp) don't reach full absorbancy til they've been wet and dry up to 10 times (think it's 7 or so for bamboo, 10 for hemp) - i have prewashed all liners 3 times, shells generally only once - and haven't used detergent except on the first wash (to get out manufacturing residue) - i can't see the point in using detergent on something i know is clean! plus some of the girls have said they don't use detergent even on soiled nappies so it can't be a bad thing to not use it...

if you only prewash once or twice, you just need to keep in mind that the absorbancy of those nappies the first half dozen times you need to use them won't be that great - so where a nappy may have lasted 3 hours normally, it might last 2 or less before it's "soaked" and needs to be changed.

i pre-washed EVERYTHING 4+ times prior to bub being born.
I use 1/2 a cap of Am-o-lin detergent in EVERY wash, because Jacks clothes are washed in with his nappies...wash sometimes every 2nd day...but mostly every day (just to keep ontop of things)
