Question What's the go with carpet cleaning?

Ok, this sounds ridiculous, but I have never had my carpets professionally cleaned and i don't really know what the deal with it is. Do I have to move the furniture myself, or do they do it for me? Do I have to stay off the carpet for hours afterwards?

Sorry if those are silly questions, but could someone fill me in?

I think they would probably move the furniture for you, but they would also probably charge for it. And maybe just stay off it overnight at the least?

Maybe it would be an idea to get them to do one room at a time - then your whole house isn't disrupted?

I get ours done every 12 months. We move the furnitue (only what we can move though) the night before and they usually come first thing in the morning. It takes them about 6 hours to do ours and they're ok to walk on late that night, or the next morning.

I've had mine done lots of times. Usually we move whatever furniture out we can and they just go around the heavy items (beds, chests of drawers etc) - fine with me because it's not like the carpet under there is exposed and needs to be cleaned iykwim?

Our carpets are usually OK to walk on that night, although they may still be a bit damp. They should be dry by the morning.

oooh good question.. our carpet needs cleaning... and now that DS doesn't have any TT accidents, it is time to get the carpet cleaned.. ready for DD to toilet train next year! LOL.

Isn't dry cleaning all chemicals Danni? I think I've had dry cleaning done once before.. but I've only ever had carpets cleaned upon moving out of a place haha.

Glad to hear we wouldn't have to move the heavy furniture.. that we can pretty much just get the high traffic carpet done.

Most places advertise that they move the furniture for you, and that you can walk on it almost straight away. Just ask when you ring around for quotes I guess.
