I am sure this has been asked and answered many times before, so sorry, but I am seeking the answer to this question again ... I am not at that stage yet, but I hope to be in coming weeks, and as I am a regular HPT girl, I am already wondering how long I'll have to wait after the trigger injection (assuming we get something to transfer of course)...thanks
I know that the trigger injection takes a while to leave your system but can't remember how long, Possums. I would like to know also as I'm taking mine tonight. I think you can do a HPT a few days before your blood test if you're keen, but whatever the outcome you should still do the blood test as if there's no implantation, they still need to confirm that before you can go onto your next cycle.
thanks meo...i am talking pregnancy test. I think with my last stim cycle I held off until the blood test, but i know this time I will want to do a HPt before my blood test..just couldnt recall how long it took for the hormone to leave my system so i can do an accurate test.
Possums you may be asked to take Pregnyl after EPU and after ET, remember that also takes time to leave your system, I got fooled by it last time... About POAS as far as I know you should be safe definitely on the day of the blood test and probably one or two days before it.
ok - the theory is that it takes 24 hours for every 1000 units of trigger you inject - so if you go to EPU it's generally 10000 unit trigger, so you'd have to wait AT LEAST 10 days. If you then have booster shots, this will extend it further. i have found the best (though most exxy) way to know is to test the trigger out of your system - i started from about 2 days after the last booster shot on Gremlin's cycle and tested each morning til trigger/booster was gone (gotta love lullaby conceptions tests - so cheap!) and then kept testing - i had two days of negatives and started getting positives again - they were getting stronger after day 2/3 so i knew it was for real. it DOES work out exxy to do it this way though...
the other option - if you leave it til a day or three before BT - if you get a positive, take it with a grain of salt - test again next day - if it's positive (and hopefully stronger) it's a good sign - if it's weaker or gone, you know it was residual trigger
FWIW - sometimes you won't get a positive that you can rely on with a HPT - my hcg levels were exceptionally low when we got to BT day (i'd had positives two days by then) and they were worried it was residual hcg from injections, so i had to keep having BT's for a couple of weeks to make sure things were climbing right - it REALLY messes with your head big time! if you arent sure you can distance yourself from the line and it maybe being from the trigger, don't test! it's not worth the distress of not knowing (and possums, i know you know where i'm coming from babe!)
I googled this extensively my last cycle due to hcg reading on 13.5 dp 5,000 trigger of 9 hcg per my BT, hoping this was implantation. I am still of two minds, perhaps I can take some heart that this may have been a chemical pregnancy. From everything I have seen a 10,000 iu trigger should be out of your system by 14 dptrigger, and 5,000 iu by 10 dptrigger.
I have done hpt lullaby conceptions measuring as low as 10iu at 10dpo (11.5dp 10,000 trigger) and have had a complete and utter BFN, so I guess it can leave your system earlier than they recommend or it may be as per BGs information.
Arghh, the TWW, I really hope your new meds will make all the difference and wish you a BFP at the end of this cycle. x
Possums - another bellybellyer posted that she starts POAS immediately (similar to BG's method) - to watch the line fade - then she knows that once the line has faded - anything that turns up after is "for real". She did say this is very hard to do as it plays with your mind - but it is a way to be certain.
