WTD?? Need 2 know for tonight..

DD had a REALLY unsettled night last night. We got an hour and a half sleep.
I put it down to teeth last night. She had rosy cheeks, was making funny noises with her mouth, chewing her hands and a slight temp. The only way to get any sleep was for me to sleep in the spare room with her.

She was really unsettled at daycare today and wouldn't have any bottle (milk or water) all day. She did have some vegies though. She hasn't had a wet nappy all afternoon so i'm concerned she getting a little dehydrated because i couldn't get a bottle into her at bed time either.

Her temp was up to 38degrees. With a cool bath and some panadol it came back down. She is in bed but still really unsettled.

What signs do i look for if shes getting dehydrated??? Do I take her to the hospital if i still can't get anything in during the night and her temp is still up there????

    Shes not herself at all.
Sorry if this seems like common sense to some... i really don't know

Don't be sorry babe. Your probably like me and don't want to seem like one of those mother's who has her children up at the hospital everyday for something new. Um, things for dehydration. I would say if you haven't had many wet (and I mean heavy) wet nappies that would be a sign. Dry lips are another sign. Not taking any fluids probably isn't good. Have you tried giving her syringes of water? The red cheeks etc suggest teething. THey don't really have an appetite when they are teething, and they can get a slight temp. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about but if you still feel unsure, take her to the hospital it can't hurt. Especially when they have temperature's.

have you tried giving her hydrolyte or something similar?

Im not sure how high is a temp for a 9 month old, it changes depending on their age, but if you think she is in pain, its not going to hurt to give her panadol, and then take her to the GP tomorrow in any case to get checked over if you can.

Sounds a bit more like gastro or some sort of viral infection to me, but it could be teething.

As far as dehydration is concerned, nappies are the best indicator. If she hasn't had a good wet nappy by the morning, then I would consider seeing your doctor or taking her to your local ED.

Don't forget the good old lemonade icy poles. Whenever DD is off her fluids she will always have a icypole/custard. Give her the hydrolyte frozen. She will probably like the icypole.

Either way hun, which ever way you can get it in. If she falls asleep, let her sleep. But if she is unsettled, take her in if you can't get her to take any fluids in.

Anything over 38 is something to monitor. Listen to Schmickers as he's a paediatric nurse, he'd know best trust me, I ask him all the time

If her last wet nappy was now yesterday morning, then definitely get her seen if she doesn't seem significantly better this morning.
