Soo upset ... over nappies
With all the problems in the world I know this is a small whinge but I am totally upset over it and this is really just a whinge to get it off my chest as no one really understands I can get so upset over nappies!
My DD has extreme eczema on her bum so I need to be very very careful about what nappies I use on her. Trust me I have tried everything. I even converted her to full time cloth (bumG, BBH, Hautes, Pocketchange, HH) but it didnt help her much.
The only nappy that really works for her is the OLD DESIGN huggies nappies.
I search far and wide for them and when I say far and wide I mean far and wide.
I ring shops up and ask them if they have any OLD DESIGN nappies and usually they dont understand what i mean so i have to go there and check myself.
I have even bought boxes from chemists (but they usually jack up the prices so much that i cannot afford their prices anymore, so I buy them from the supermarket and then ask the chemists if I can swap them. Some are more than happy)
I search on ebay, usually they only have pick up.
The other night i thought i hit JACKPOT! 3 boxes of OLD DESIGNS!!! I bought them.
They got picked up by a friend of mine.
I was absolutely over the moon
I tried them. THEY ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL SUCKED!!!!! OMG!!! They leaked and leaked and leaked.
I have no idea what it is but they leaked but I think it is because they are not the OLD DESIGN with the fast absorbing layer (I THINK). They made my DD's bum weep from blood because the moisture isnt getting absorbed enough.
I am so sad, DD has a very very sore bleeding bum which she ALWAYS TRY TO SCRATCH and I am out of ideas how I can these old design nappies.
I just wasted $100 buck and I dont know how to get that back as the seller is not returning my emails =(
Anyway, thanks for reading ladies. I know its something small but when you've tried to do the best for your child and it just fails it hurts.

Have you tried using the raw silk liners with your cloth nappies? They are supposed to help with rashes ezcema etc?
It also depends onthe inners/linigs of the nappies that you used - ask around (I apologise if you have done this and I missed your post ) in the cloth general discussion thread as there are a few mums in there who will have some suggestions in there regarding fabrics/liners etc?
As for ebay I would leave neg feedback if they dont rely to you and sold you something that was not what they said it was.
Sorry to hear you are having a hard time! What about trying micro-polar fleece liners?? They are 'stay dry', so her skin would stay dry. (Sorry if you have already tried this)

I'm sure you already did this...but I'm gonna say it anyway, LOL....when you were on the phone to Huggies did you ask if they still had any old stock of the older style nappies? Surely they would still have some lying around?? If you explain your situation and tell them that they are the ONLY nappies your bub can wear they might be able to hunt some up for you.
As for the leaky Huggies...we were just talking about this at playgroup the other day. A friend of mine bought a box of Huggies and every nappy had one side of the gusset missing (the elasticy bit inside the nappy) and they all leaked. She called huggies and they sent her out a new box.

As for the raw Silk liners...I have no idea...but I'm sure one of the more seasoned cloth girls can tell you where to get them.
Just google raw silk nappy liners. There are some from a WAHM naps site.
Alternatively you could make your own if you are handy with a sewing machine or have an overlocker
Hi, hope you get some where with huggies! I agree with Marlene, I would be telling them about your situation and see if they can help.
For the cloth - All the nappies you mentioned have microfibre tops which is synthetic and quite a few bubs have problems with this fabric against their skin. Have you triedn natural fibres against the skin, organic cotton velour is good (swaddlebees, new BumG AIO - not pockets) or flanellete or raw silk liners against the skin but some can find these too abrasive if there is already damage to the skin. I wish I could send you some to try but I don't have all that many that are natural inners - maybe try second hand???

Thanks heaps for the support ladies. When I rang huggies I broke down LOL (funny now because Im thinking, wow! I broke down over NAPPIES).
I have tried the swaddlebee but somehow DD's bum didnt agree with them too. I also have the Bamboo BBHs.
I havent tried raw silk though.
I put Moo Goo on DD and her bum still is so sensitive *SIGH*
The lady said they dont have any old stock available and if they do find out there are issues with this batch they will send me the new boxes only, hopefully they had fixed the issues they had when they brought out the new designs!
I'm so appreciative of you ladies are so understanding because as I was typing this page i was thinking *geeze its about NAPPIES* but when I see DD's sore bum I feel so sad especially when she is struggling to get changed.
Honestly i just wanted to burn the 3 boxes of nappies because the amount of time it leaked through DD's pants is crazy. So frustrated!
Currently I'm using them with a BBH cover. Any other options (other than burning them) for 3 boxes of useless nappies?? LOL
Hmmm.... ....sell them to newly lactating mothers to freeze and use on their engorged breasts??? ....sell them to friends of expecting mums to use for the game they do at baby showers where you melt chocolate onto them for participants to guess the chockie...???
Sorry, not very helpful, but hope it provided a little laugh. Sorry about your DD's sensitive bot, it must be pretty hard for both of you. I hope you can find a solution!
phoenix - what are you using to treat the ezcema - might be that you need to resort to a full on ezcema cream til it settles down, and as much nappy free time as you can manage?
When DS had really bad nappy rash, which was only 1-2 times thats what we had to do after trying everything natural. Then when it settles started again.
I agree i didnt like microfibre against my DS bottom either, but had some boosters that were m/f but with a softer sherpa or fleece topper on one side.
hi phoenix, I dont know if you have already explored this, but is it possibly fungal? my ds has a very sore red bum, has had since we used targets brand nappies at 2 wks old I wasnt able to ever completely get rid of it, I have now started using cloth nappies and it seemed to be getting better then all of a sudden it was the worst it had ever been! the nurse at the hospital yesterday suggested I use clonea (generic canesten) cream on it, and even after the first application it is looking better.

Hmmmmm ... I never actually thought it was fungal. Just thought it was eczema. I know that when I use the old huggies her bum gets better like straight away, any other nappies including the new one triggers it again.
Might take her to see the docs to make sure it is not infected.
My DS had eczema, and I went to a naturopath. They put him on a probiotic, and honestly it made a world of difference.
Maybe give it a go>? It can't hurt?? You get the powedered version for the chemist and just add to food or milk. (I am not sure how old your DD is, but if eating or having cup of milk, it goes a treat)
PM me your addy babe...I'll send you some velour liners for you to try. they are super soft on an eczema and super sensitve bum (speaking from experience) I tried for ages to stop the redness..it really did my head in, even silk liners didnt work but ive found that velour works a treat. the liners will work in a sposie as well to...just remember not to throw them out with the nappy (I'll make sure their nice and bright for you)
the nappies you mentioned probably didnt work as they dont have a kept dry layer hon. And the only thing we have found that works for us are bamboo layers nappies with velour linings.
