Can using anti-depressants cause hairloss?? I'm on it for PND. Been on it for 3 or 4 months now.
or could postpartum hairloss start at 5 months after birth??
I got worried last night. I was noticing some hairloss the past two weeks, from brushing and washing, but last night it looked like I had a hair cut in the shower I even had DH worried, because I called him to come and look at all the blooming hair in the drain after I was done!!!!
I remember after dd I had hairloss for almost 7 months but not like this. Little bits at a time, like steady amounts each time I washed, but this is like hands full of hair.
I only wash my hair twice a week and don't blow-dry. I do dry my hair with a hairdryer, but it's only dry and go and I sometimes just leave it damp. If I am lucky enough to get to the shower early in the evening I just let my hair air dry.
Hi Nadine
There is a name for it. I have been loosing my hair big time and when I asked the GP she told me that it was common and its name (sorry can't remember its name ).
But in my case it could also be from Anti Depressants or my thyroid problem.
Google your anti depressant and find out if hair loss is one of the reactions you can have from it.
Thanks ... it have become a bit better, but I still have loss AND I'm sure it's thinner than it was 10 years ago, but then again ... I'm not 20 anymore
I see you have just started a weight loss journey ... hope you don't mind me asking, but how are you finding it so far? I've been trying, but I feel these pills are making it harder. Don't know if it's in my mind or not ... or if I'm just using it as a cheap excuse for being lazy.
Hey there,
I started losing my hair with my second baby when she was about 4 months old. It got so bad that you could actually see my scalp through parts of my hair! I started on a range of vitamins and healthy food, stopped washing and combing my hair so much but nothing slowed it down! By the time bubs was about 8 months I feel into depression because of alot of issues but mainly because I couldnt handle losing so much hair - especially when i always took pride in my hair. Its hard enough to feel like an attractive women again after having a baby but to also deal with going bald is just too much!! My doctor did blood tests to see if anything was causing the problem - blood tests were normal but the doctor suggested I try and not 'stress' about the issue as this would be making it worse! Easier said then done. After a few weeks, the doctor decided to try me on anti-depressants. At the same time, I parted with some savings and got a couple of hair extensions to 'fill out' the thinnest parts of my hair. Im now starting to feel better as my stress levels have eased and my hair loss is slowing. Hopefully my anti-depressants dont start to make it fall out again! Thats all I need! lol! Good luck
