How quick did you go to the Dr to confirm pregnancy?

Just wondering how soon did some of the ladies on here go to their Dr to confirm their pregnancy. I had my first +++HPT yesterday but my period isn't due to the end of this week so I feel its too early to rush of to the Dr. On the other hand even know I now am 99.9% sure I am pregnant I want confirmation as DH said he won't get excited till the Dr tells us we are definately expecting. Any advise is appreciated!

I was really in no rush, lol. I trusted the HPT, but my DH was like yours, needed to hear it from the dr. I'm sure the dr could do the bloods now, but i'd think i'd wait until your period is atleast due.. dont know why, hehe - just what i'd do i suppose.

I went before my period was due. Got a +ve HPT on Tuesday, booked in on Thursday, period due Friday. She thought it was quite funny that I was there before I'd even missed my period, but like you, I was 99.9% sure I was pg!

The other reason I was keen to get to her was that I needed a referral to the Obs that I had chosen and I was worried I'd miss out on booking in with the Obs.

I say book it in!

I went for a test at 12DPO (after a HPT BFP at 10DPO). It was over a weekend, otherwise I would probably have gone to the doc sooner haha!

What was interesting is that the mid-wife performing the test said that it may still be too early to test or to get an accurate HCG reading. I didn't understand why - I thought blood tests could be done sooner that HPT's. Anyway, as it happens everything came up positive and my HCG reading was accurate.

Thanks for your responses I think I will wait till next week and go see the dr. That way my period will be late and hopefully they will do all the blood tests (rubella, antibodies etc) at the same time. Then DH will believe me.

It's best to wait till your AF is at least a week late. Their tests aren't as sensitive as the home tests.

I went 2 weeks after I found out. I was about 8weeks.

I got a +ve HPT at 9DPO and went to the Drs couple of days after that. But he didn't confirm it - no bloods, no test, just a scan referral for a 7 week scan.

this time around, i was in no hurry.. i knew i was pregnant, even before i did my test!

it wouldnt hurt to see your doc.. but perhaps wait till you're 'late' just incase he tells you to come back or something.

I was 12 weeks with DS1 and 11 weeks with DS2.

I was +ve both times I was pregnant and only went to 1) shut DH up and 2) to get a referral for the hospital & ultrasound.

I went at 4 weeks 1 day I got my positive the day after my period was due so went that day so I could get the referral to the OB of my choice.

My doctor didn't bother getting me to POAS as he said they just use the same tests anyway. His words were 'a positive is a positive, I don't need to see it to believe you'. I asked to get my bloods done though as I wanted to check the HCG levels. In hindsight, that was probably a mistake as my levels were low so I worried for a few days while we were waiting for the next round of results to show they were rising.

I'd be inclined to wait until your period would have been due.

I went as soon as I got my BFP - the day AF was due. Doc said I didn't need a BT - but I asked for one and he said ok! My HCG was very low tho and turns out i'd O'd later than I thought so was only 7-8 dpo!!! I saw my obs at 5/6 weeks!!!

I went the day after I did my HPT on a Friday last time and I showed a negative on their urine test so my Dr took blood I had to wait till Monday for the results by then I was starting to feel sick so I knew

This time round I waited a week to go in and she didnt even test me but took my word and write me out a referral, but I rang my OB straight up and booked in
