AJP - i was more tired and depressed 3-6 months than i was 0-3 months!
i think the excitement and adrenalin was over and the 3 months of sleep deprivation and constant feeding overnight hit me at the 3 month mark!

    *hugs* things will get better!!!

if you still feel like this than go and see someone , the signs of early pnd are so sublte , tired/ teary / Emo all the time and really lack of lust for anything . if you think its impacting on you then its serious ..

i have been feeling extra emotional lately and its a key sign im over worked and stressed , i also get SAD every winter (seasonal affective disorder) and its time for me to nip it in the bud befroe i have another breakdown

It could be hormones adjusting or AF coming back , but get a GP review JIC ...

are you sleeping ok ? eating ok ? try to stay away from junk as it can play havoc with your body , like increasing anxiety and mood swings etc ..

popping bubs/kids in the pram and going for a walk as a family when hubby gets home really helps !!

hugs hun , i hope you feel better soon

im sure at this stage its definatly not PND i had that last time, im just tired and emotional!

Hugs AJP, I wasn't diagnosed with PND until around 6 months post birth. But looking back, the signs started around the 3 months. And they were things like fatigue, exhaustion, irritabiity etc. I figured most mums feel this way, especially with a baby and a toddler, and it just went down hill rapidly from there. Definately talk to your gp about how you feel and let us know.

you should get them to do an earlier test on your iron levels, mine went down to 8 (the lowest, healthy level is 50), and got anaemia induced depression and anxiety, and the effects were terrible. at least if you get your level checked, you know where you're at, and it's easier to get on top of. lots of luck xo

    hey AJP,

i too was thinking along the pnd lines until i realised that you have low iron...i reckon that it is probably that that's really interfering. like you, i know what PND feels like and i also know what very low iron feels like, and if you feel flat, tired and cranky (but not numb/manic/falling into a fog) then it is more than likely the iron problem. still not cool or awesome, but hey, no doubt a cinch in comparison to the pnd to 'fix' itms.

i dont know what you are taking for the iron, but my GP told me that even the more moderate cases of low iron can take up to a year to rectify . freak out! LOL! i am so aware of the fragility of the human mind (ie mine LOL!) so have taken pretty full on measures to stave off any post PND resurgence ITMS. i am taking the iron supplements and spirulina plus the floradix stuff you drink. i know that it is really really hard when you have a young baby (let alone two kidlets!), but trying your darndest to have really balanced meals (all of them ) is really the best. i found that since taking these supplements and eating alot better (i swear that i should buy shares in spinach farms LOL!), i have found my emotions to be much better. i still get the dizzy spells and fatigue, but i guess that little bit of extra energy from the food etc must help.
i guess with the b/f a baby it is probably a whole new kettle of fish, but thought to share my perspective...

hope you get some answers soon xx

im eating reasonably well!! but im sure breastfeeding isnt helping though i wont be giving that up!!

I'm glad you're sure its not PND, and hopefully the iron issue is fairly easy to resolve. The symptoms must be similar, because they have tested my iron several times throughout this. I think for me the reason my PND was prolonged was because I didn't have it with DS1 so i was in denial for ages, sure that i wouldn't get it as i hadn't had it the first time. Also i don't know if it helps with iron at all, but since i started taking In-Liven again i have had at least 30% more energy, so maybe thats something you could try if things don't pick up.

i had no idea an iron problem could take that long to rectify !!! i better get my self of to the docs then .. i have verrry low iron with DD's pg and i took some iron for a while , then i stopped ... and now i just feel tired .. i think that floradix tastes ok so i would be happy to take it all the time , its just so hard to find !! also i went to a natural grocer a few mths back and she suggested floradix and b tissue salts . and i took each one 3 times a day .. and when the bottle was finished i stopped , coz again out here there is no good chemists/HF stores , so if it is your iron , make sure you dont stop and start like i did, i also did that with my PND meds , which casued me to have a pretty bad episode , so i def dont reccomend stopping and re starting !!

how are you sleeping ? do you find it hard to go to sleep ?
    are you forgetful ?

how are you feeling today ??
