    Question about Kmart fitteds

I understand that people generally don't find them absorbent, but I'm wondering, as a newborn option, are they really any worse than using terry flats? It seems that the absorbency would be the same, except you also get the elastic legs and ease of velcro. Is my thinking all wrong? I was going to go for flats for the first few months but these seem like an easier option for DH.

Put an awesome cover over the top and they should be ok.

You're right - they don't have to last long with a newborn, so I would probably be tempted to use them too.

Although I'm getting more prefolds for this next one cos I loooove them.

they are filled with wadding not cotton , there are some good cotton fitteds on ebay that will last longer ..

    not worth the money .

Ok, yes I have one that I bought today to look at, and I see there is wadding inside (picked it open) Hmm, could I possibly replace that with something better? Even more terry perhaps?

Lea, thanks I will look at the ebay ones for price - are they terry as well? Does it just say 'cotton', that could mean anything right?

Mel, what is it about prefolds that you love so much? It's the no-elastic that puts me off a little. Would you not get a better chance of containment with even a cheap fitted?

I never had a leak in a prefold. Plus they are cheap - but absorbent!! I used snappies, so got a pretty good fit though.

If you wanted to go for the cheapie ones from kmart, just chuck a booster on top of it. Should be alright.

I understand wanting the cheapest possible way for a newborn - cos they grow so damn quick!

With the price that you pay for them I think you'd be better off buying prefolds or second hand newborn ones that you can onsell later

I've got a couple of BigW ones (I assume Kmart ones are similar) and they did ok for Natty as a little-y. But they did leak. Mel's idea of tossing in a good booster is a good one.

Do they have a stockists section on their website? Some online stores stock them also I've seen in the past.
