Bleeding, can't feel my Mirena string, bad cramps :(
I have had my Mirena in for 9 months or something like that (hopeless at remembering stuff like that, should keep records )
I have had very light spotting once a month, when I would normally get a period, since I had it put in. Last week I had few days of heavier bleeding, but not quite as heavy as my normal period. The last two days I have had extremely bad cramping. I thought I might be coming down with a tummy bug or food poisoning but I do not feel sick at all and have had no vomiting or diarrhoea. It sudden;y came to me today that maybe it was something to do with my Mirena so I had a little feel around and I can't feel the string. I haven't been checking every month but I know that the last time I did check (a couple months ago ) I could feel it.
Do you think it could have moved? Could that be causing the cramping? Could I be pregnant?
The pain of the cramps have eased a little today, but I'm still a bit worried.
Geez, I hope it's just a tummy bug!!!
ETA: I'm not bleeding or spotting at all at the moment.
What do I do????????????????????
Going to bed now, hopefully some replies by the morning to ease my mind.

: had to add more.
Marlene, I would go to your Dr and get it checked out that it is even still in there. I couldn't feel the strings of mine ever, just thinking that the Dr cut them too short for my short fingers to reach, but it turned outthat the entire thing had moved up into my uterus. I also had loads of bleeding and pain the entire time I had it in. Either way, something doesn't sound right with it.
I HATE going to the doctor!!!! I sat there for over 3 hours, when I finally got in I explained to the doctor what was happening, told him I couldn't feel the Mirena string. He then tells me to get up on the bed, gives my tummy a quick poke, hands me a referral and tells me to book in for an ultrasound! He didn't tell me ANYTHING!!! He didn't even attempt to find the string!! I walked out of his office in shock!
I cant get in for the ultrasound until Monday. I'm not getting cramps anymore and no more bleeding, but, I do feel a bit funny in the tummy. Now I don't know if I am just being being dramatic, cos the doctor certainly didn't seem to care.
You could always go to emergency at your hospital and they can do an us there. You dont need to suffer and be uncomfortable all weekend. Take some panadol for some relief too. Good Luck.
