Question c'link paid back to babys birth?

    hi all,
been looking on the c'link website but cant find anything to explain to me whether when my c'link payments start (im entitled to PPP, FTBA and B, rent assist) they get backpaid to when your baby is born?

im aware once you put paperwork in it can take about 3 or 4 weeks for payments to start coming thru, but do they just start the payments from the date they process your claim or from babys birth date?

just thought i should ask cause i assumed it would be backpaid to babys birth date but want to be sure, TIA

As far as I am aware, they will pay you from lodgement date - so yes to backpay to lodgement date if it takes them 28 days to process everything. I always got my DH to pick up the paperwork from the hospital and drop it straight down to centrelink. Take a pen so you can fill it out.

LOL trying to get DP to centrelink will be a challenge, so they only pay from lodgement date not baby birth date?

I'm pretty sure it's all dated from your first interaction with Centrelink, not your baby So yeah, backdated to lodgement date.

They will give you the Birth Certificate, FTB and Baby Bonus papers at the hospy. It needs to be stamped and signed by someone at the hospital to be accepted. They stuck mine in the little plastic crib when I was transferred to ward all 5 times. Anything else make sure you have the paperwork in your bag before hand.

They may well go from date of babies birth for the baby bonus at least, but I have only ever known them to take it from the day of first contact with FTB A. It is best to be prepared and get everything in ASAP just in case.

The sooner all the paperwork is in, the better anyway.

My paperwork was in the crib with my baby, stamped and ready to go. All I needed to do was fill it all in.

Because it is your first baby, you will need to have a lengthy phone conversation with c/link as well. This is where they establish a family file for you, and get lots of details. Once all that is complete, then they can start paying you.

Baby bonus is paid in fortnight installments over 6 months, and ftb, ppp, and rent assistance is paid fortnightly as well. You will need to provide your local office with a copy of your rental agreement before they can pay RA

ftb and baby bonus will be paid from the day baby is born - you can apply for these payments up to 26weeks after the baby is born. RA, as it is paid with ftb, is also backdated if the right evidence is provided

ANY income support payment (ppp, nsa etc) will only be paid from the day of first contact with c'link PROVIDED all information you've been asked for is provided within 14 days of that first contact. if you don't provide it all within that time you will have to contact again and that becomes your date of first contact...

phew thats a relief cheers BG, im only entitled to about $30 a week PPP cause DP makes about 700 a week before tax which is pretty close to the cutoff im quite sure, so not really fussed if i miss out on that for a few weeks...but am entitled to full RA n FTBB so im glad that gets backpaid to bubs birth *sigh of relief*
