I always SWORE I would never get the "Mum hairdo". You know, give up and just chop it all off and have this very utilitarian boring hairdo...
But I can now understand why women do it. I have 2 kids and no time to make my hair look nice, it gets vomited in and grabbed and pulled and I'm on the floor wrestling and tickling and frankly I look like a wreck the whole time.
I also never wanted to be one of those mums that looked like I'd had the will to live beaten out of me. And that is what I look like.
My hair, as you may have guessed from my user name, is curly. And long. And DH loves it. But I cringe every time I look in the mirror now. And really the main reason I wear it like this still is because DH loves the curly hair so much. He hates it straight or wavy. And he doesn't care if it is fuzzy, as long as it is curly.
But I am really loving Leah from PlaySchool's hair! She looks so funky and sassy and practical too...and I'm awfully tempted because my hair is very similar to what hers looked like BEFORE she had it cut...have you seen the older episodes where she has long hair? It really drags her down and that is how I feel I look. But I've never had hair that short in my whole life.
I'm after opinions...is it giving up to cut my long hair off? And how much should DH's opinion matter?
Oh tough one! I guess ultimately hair grows back... and if you have never had it short why not take a risk and be daring? it will be easier to maintain and feel so much lighter and cool...
In saying that, I have long hair too(past boobies) and have had urge to go the chop but dp loves it and i think would probably cry if i got it cut lol....
But if you feel like a wreck going to a nice salon and treating yourself and getting a fresh new style would probably do you the world of good! Some of the flash salons even give you champagne while they cut, yippee
I don't think it is giving up to cut your long hair shorter. I had my last hair cut in September 07, and am needing to get it cut for the same reasons as you..it's long, DS keeps grabbing it, I smell like puke some days, etc etc.
It doesn't feel nice to feel like crap, get it cut I reckon. Like jords said, it will grow back.
It is your hair that is being pulled and chucked on, not your DH's. Tell him to grow his hair long and he can see what it feel like lol
Make a stance! Cut it off! Pay for a really good stylist and you will not regret it. Chic, sassy, funky, fresh, fun. These are the key words you will say to the stylist and, voila! You will feel liberated in a post-feminist kind of way.
