    Cool Pregnancy and Peroxide

    Hi all,

For the last few months I've been growing my cropped 'do into a Debbie Harry rock bob. I was planning to dye it blonde for summer, but circumstances have changed and now I hope to be pregnant then!

I've read that whilst pregnant your hair doesn't 'take' dyes the same way it does normally. I've just done a quick Google and it doesn't seem that using peroxide to dye hair is dangerous during pregnancy, which I was worried about.

Does anyone have experience with bleaching their hair while pregnant? If I go blonde before conception, will I be sentenced to nine months of regrowth?

I bleached my hair when pg... then I grew too sick of touching the regrowth up, so I dyed it darker. But then the pregnancy hormones must have affected it, as the darker dye would not hold properly, and half of it would come out in the shower, leaving me with washed out orange hair.... I used permanents, and I retouched it every 6 weeks, but it was always the same awful result! Once I had my son my hair was fine again and held onto the dye...
There is divided opinion on the topic of dying/bleaching hair during pg, however the majority consensus that I have heard is that it is perfectly safe...

i get 'touch ups' every 8 weeks......have done for every pregnancy (currently my third).

Just be sensible, make sure the room/salon is well ventilated (doors open etc).

I think the amount they (hairdressers) are using on your hair, and the timeframe in which it is done (i.e you dont get it done every day)...you should be fine and looking gorgeous !

Thanks gals! Before I go blonde I'll make sure I'm committed to the colour for at least nine months, and I'll always check for good ventilation.
