I swear by the Norwegian formula that Yael mentioned. It works a treat and you only need a tiny bit.
I used to use it when I was working in a bar so my hands were getting wet all the time and getting detergants etc on them and they never dried out.

When my hands get exceptionally dry (usually from washing my hands too much with the wrong type of soap), I find using any moisturiser mixed with a bit of essential oil helps. You could probably use a bit of olive oil if you don't have essential oil. They go a bit greasy for a bit until it's all absorbed into your skin but find it does the trick for me.
Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream.
It's BRILLIANT.
go to a climbing shop and buy some hand jam - it is incredible - yes it is a bit expensive but you only put it on morning and night, DH is a rigger and uses it daily and it keeps his hands soft
thanks guys u have been really helpful
Hi the sorbaline cream i bought from bricknell supplies is the best, they are in sydney and will sell it to you in any size i buy bulk because i use it quite a bit give them a call and they will send it to you, so if you dont live close you can get it anywhere.
I use olive oil on my hands when they're really dry, I also use sweet almond oil. DH uses "Hand Jam" which he gets from climbing shops - he is a rigger so is in contact with ropes etc all day so his hands get horribly dry.
I purposely stay away from any petrochemical by-product (of which sorbelene is).
