Does anyone else have problems with platform shoes?
I have a really cute pair of platform wedges but they dont fit right. They are comfy but my foot slips when I walk in them. The heel part. I thought maybe I had the wrong size but then I remembered that I had a very similar to this style a few years ago and they definatly fit well but my foot/heel slipped in them as I walked too. I have tried numerous inserts etc to try help secure my feet in better but they still slip - is it my feet are not suitable for these kinds of shoes??? They look good and feel comfy but they slip - and there is no way I can wear them out
Does anyone else have this problem with high wedges? Its like I need a slightly more jutty out heel to help grip them.
Salsa I have that problem too. A great lil thing is a foot petal or gel pad which sits under the ball of your foot and stops you sliding forward. It also gives some cushining so you dont get that burning feeling. You can get them form most shoe shops and chemists!
Gee I am glad my years of selling shoes has come in handy lol!
Thanks Amber - but I have tried these and although they help, they do not help enough.
Do you think (from your years of selling shoes ) that some peoples feet are just not the right shape for that style of shoe? DH seems to think I`m not 'practiced' enough in that style - I want to bop him on the head!!! They are 4.5" heel, but I have worn higher heels before but they were more platformed rather than wedge and I didnt have a problem. I think it may just be this certain style - or maybe the size is just wrong
I probably shouldnt have brought them but they are so nice, they`ll just have to be on display in my bedroom...
LOL
Is your heel slipping off the back?
I know I have really narrow feet so shoes tend to be abit big around the heel iykwim! Can you tighten the ankle strap? Maybe walk around a bit in them and just let your feet fall naturally into them! dont try and make them align wiht the contour iykwim!
I have long, narrow feet (thanks, Dad! *grr*) and I have the exact same problem with most shoes. These days, I will tend towards only buying shoes that have an ankle strap or something across the top of the foot to hold them on (I'm almost upset that gladiator sandals are on their way out because they were great for me!), or if I won't be wearing them often/for long periods of time I might buy them a half-size smaller for that extra little bit of grip.
Then recently I found some clear inserts that you slip into the heel of your shoe, they have adhesive on the backs so they stick in there, and they just provide that bit more grip for you so you don't essentially 'step out' of your shoe every time you go to take a step. I found them at Cosmetics Plus for about $6, I'm sure you would find similar things in plenty of other outlets or on the net.
