Going great here, no itchy scalp. Definately less build up. But mines short so much easier to manage. Going to hairdresser to get my hair coloured on Wednesday so will see how that goes. First ever professional colour.

This is really interesting to read. I find that if I don't wash my hair each day it just feels gross. I'm not sure I could wait to get past the 'gross' stage. I wish I could though!

Chody, it took me two goes to get past it. First time was a couple of years ago and I only lasted maybe 3 weeks. Once you do get through it, and it's not too bad, it's so nice. The main thing I can't get over is how clean my hair stays, and for so much longer!

Arte, I put 1tbsp baking soda in a squirty bottle with 1 cup warm water for the shampoo, and 1tbsp ACV and 1 cup warm water for the conditioner, then spray and massage through, rinse. It takes getting used to, the no lathering, and for a while it made my hair feel quite wiry when wet and very fluffy when dry (it really thoroughly cleans), but now it's great.

I did this for three weeks. My hair was *never* clean the whole time I tried it and I was washing daily (down from 4 days with shampoo; my hair was greasy after just 5-6 hours). Just couldn't get it to work, no matter how many times I washed.

I'm gutted, I really wanted this to work and work well!

I have been using really diluted fab softner as a leave in conditioner for dd hair and its been helping her tangles and frizzies. Its not exactly natural but it works well

Bumping this up....is everybody still doing this, im going on 2 weeks here and the icky oiliness is doing my head in cant wait for it to be over. Also have been using Henna to colour my hair looks amazing!

I am still going I washed maybe every 2 or 3 months last year but I ran out of shampoo sometime around Oct/Nov and haven't bothered to buy more. So fully No-poo for 7-8 months now. I did have a patch a month ago where it got greasy yet dry, but we moved and I suspect it was something to do with moving from a non-chlorinated water supply to a chlorinated one. The girls got frizzy hair for a while too when we moved but it seems back to normal now.

I do have a build up that I should do something about and I have been meaning to find this thread for ages to see what I should use. I didn't realise the thread was so old!!

i too was *literally* just thinking about this thread! Only because i went to the hairdresser after a millenia and she washed my hair and now i am paying for it

So I vaguely remembered someone in this thread using coconut oil for their hair and I got some for cooking and thought I would give it a whirl. I should have been tipped off by the solid state it was in to start with, but I figured the hot water would liquidise it. I didn't account for the stuff left in going hard again once I was out of the shower! Now I have solid hair lol.

Lol artechim!! If you're game enough to try it again, I use it after my shower and apply to dry hair. Just a little rubbed in my hands to melt it, then drag my hands through the ends. It's never solidified on me that way

are you sure we are not related hahahahaha. that is so something that i would do

we have had a headlice breakout in our house so i have had to do the conditioner thing on all of us....arrghhhh! my scalp hates me right now! it was just coming good after the hairdresser and now it is back to limp and gross.

Cass, try a vinegar solution rinse to get the last of the excess conditioner out of your hair.

I am on day 27 of no poo, and so far I am loving it. Only thing I'm really not enjoying is the constant acv smell that surrounds me.
