lets talk tattoos

I have five and for me it was the inside wrist that hurt the most. :o
Top of my foot was my first one and I honestly didnt think it was that bad.
My stamp tramp is the biggest and that hurt too but I htink it was cause it took the longest.
Small one on the back of my neck didnt hurt at all :clap:
and the one on the side of my other foot really hurt too. I think it is a toss up actually between that one and the wrist as been the sorest.

I was just saying to DH yesterday that I really like "sleeves" and I think when we are rich he should start adding to his arm one to make it into a sleeve.

I have 4 - they're all pretty small.
on my right foot, i have the kids names with some flower/stars
on my left ankle i have a cursive 'R' (most people assume this is for my first name, it isn't. it's the first initial of my first love, and a reminder that i will never let a man get so far under my skin, as he did)
on my left hip i have a dragon fly
on my right hand lower back i have this weird shape that i drew during a business lecture at uni and loved...

i really want to get a pin up girl on my arm, but i don't think i have the 'look' to pull it off...

I have four. I'm not a fan of three of them- I have slightly different taste to when I was a teenager. I'm in the process of designing a cover up, it's going to have to somehow snake around my middle to cover the three of them ( two on lower back and one tummy)

Glam - we have to get our A into G about Sydney! I'm dying to get some more, it's been 5 years.

I've got a full back piece (lilies with a couple of butterflies, a ladybug, a dragon fly, bumble bee and a hummingbird) that took over 20 hours to do, a full right leg with gerbera daisies from foot to hip and a hedgehog on my foot that took 17 hours to do, a few words on my left wrist that took 15 mins to do (!) and I'm starting on my left leg in a few weeks with a geisha on my left thigh and cherry blossom and kangi down the leg onto the foot.

My hedgehog was by far the worst of all of them pain wise - damn near kicked my guy in the face a couple of times but I didn't cry (I'd never hear the end of it from him if I did!).

With the exception of my geisha all my work is hand drawn by my tattooist - I tell him what he wants and he draws it (but I get the impression he'll hand draw the geisha on as it's not easy to get a stencil to lay flat on a thigh - especially when they're fat like mine!!).

I love my tats, my mum hates them but she's in England so too far away to be concerned about!

I just have my lower back at the moment... 2 incorporated into one. I am getting another and was debating my foot or inside my forearm and that's where I've actually decided to go with... partly cos I kept thinking how much the foot would hurt bahahaha.... anyway... I'm getting cherry blossom with a Dunk Island butterfly (those really gorgeous vibrant blue ones), it has meaning to me... a very good friend of mine lost her baby 2 months ago and she's the 6th person I know (and sadly these ones were all late losses) and I wanted to do something to forever honour their little angel babies. There won't be names on it (although I'm sure that could easily be put into the cherry blossom) cos I know who they are. It will also incorporate any angel babies I cross paths with after as well... or if I meet someone later who lost. Anyway, that's why and what I want. I have to wait though for Elijah to stop BFing lol so we could be waiting a while yet!

does everyone use bethpanthen?? ive seen a few different tattoo creams around and wondering if they are any good...Im a bit off the smell of bethpanthen its gross!

I think you're not supposed to in case of possible infection or something? They won't tatt when pg either.

I use protat (the red one, not the green one) cause that's what my tattooist recommends. I've never had any problems with it and all my ink has healed fab.

forgot one!! can't believe I forgot this one as it was the first one I got done, and the one with the most meaning. I have a set of angel wings across my lower back for my baby who died when she was only 18 days old.

Aside from the risk of infection (which is virtually nil imo if you're going to a reputable studio and taking proper care of your tattoo afterward), there is the belief that your milk supply will be inhibited or even dry up as the body puts its efforts into healing your wound (tattoo) instead of making milk. I have been tattooed while pg (didn't know it at the time, got my BFP a week later and was around 8 weeks) and got my chestpiece finished off while BFing DD2 full-time and never had a problem with supply at all, but it is a risk and it is one that most tattooists and mothers just aren't willing to take.

I have two quite large tattos.
A unicorn rearing up in front of a waterfall...he covers th top right quater of my back.
He is my protector. It was done 17 years ago (showing my age :redface:) and it still looks good.
My second one is a cover up of a small butterfly. It is a large warrior faerie. She wraps around my left breast....flying. Her feet are under my boob, her head at the top and wing on my boob.
In her faerie dust behind her is my 7 kids initials.
She represent how hard I have had to fight for me and my kids.

i am so addicted to tattoos it wierd i have 3 and cant wait for lil man to arrive so i can get another one my DH and i take it in turns but i pushed in last time getting one for my birthday
i have my lil man footprints from when he was born walking up my shoulder (he was 10wks early)
i also have on my other shoulder my dads portrait after he passed away 2 1/2 yrs ago
and for my girls i got a cherry blossom tree covering half my lower back

the tattooist i have been to most recently was saying he read studies re: tattoo ink, and said on post mortums etc, they have fround ink in peoples lymph nodes, indicating that the ink does travel around the body and be systemic (everywhere rather than just stay locally). He said he hasnt found anywhere that says dont do it while bf, but for his own personal position, based on the above, he wouldnt feel comfortable with it. same as when someone is preg, he just wouldnt dare take the risk that someone does pass on etc.. he wouldnt be able to live with himself. so just plays it safe

Yes, I love my ink and cant wait to finish off my crafty/homemaker themed ones on my left arm. There's a sparrow with cupcake and around that theres cherry shaped buttons (have a button fettish) needle/ spool of thread, safety pin. Cant wait to get my scissors, more buttons and maybe a measuring tape added to complete the half sleeve. Its for myself , mum and baby girl.

On my right ankle I've got a day of the dead girl, two large roses with a spiderweb around my ankle. That is a tribute to loved ones lost, the spiderwebs though are for my boys, they love them!

Lower back is a japanese symbol "Power of the feminine" with frangipanis, a tribute to my angel babies.

Shoulder, two butterflies, one for my son and my lost brother. A faerie for my childhood (hard to explain) a hibiscius symbolises our marriage, they are also my favourite flowers.


I love LA Ink and Miami ink, any shows on tattoos. I've noticed alot more females are getting sleeves. It makes my day when random people compliment, the nicest one I recieved was from a sweet lady who gently tapped me on the arm to compliment me, I could've hugged her.

I can't wait to get this baby out to get my back finished and get another

I have 4, I'm going to stop for a while because the last one hurt, a LOT. But then again it is 8 hours of work and 35cm long and about 10cm wide on my back.

Have had one each decade of my life since I was a teenager, so I have a few years to wait until the timing for the next one.

I'm thinking of getting a toe ring tattoo..on my toe of course lol...has anyone had the toe done? Do you think it'd be like a finger? Also how much could I expect to pay for it do you think?

they wont do the bottom of your foot. because if wear and tear it wont last very long at all. we had the same problem with our wedding rings, everyone we talked to about it in the city we lived in at the time wouldnt do it, even though we told them we knew it would need redoing at some point. My brother trod on a key and it ended up impalling his foot (that is a story of its own), but we wanted to get a keyhole tattoo because of it, and wanted to get it on the bottom of his foot, where the key went in, but they wouldnt do it cause it just wouldnt last, so he had to get it on top of his foot instead.

you could get it on top of your toe...but it wont go all the way around. and i wouldnt think it would cost much, 50 bucks?
