    Red face Maternity Formal Wear....HELP!!!!

Okay I have a real dilema!!

We have a formal wedding to go to on September 1st and being a huge as I am, I need to find a formal dress to wear with this bump!!

Has anyone had to buy a formal dress suring ther pregnancy or know where I can buy one?? I have put my foot down and said if I can find a dress my limit is $150 but if I can wear it again after the pregnancy I will stretch it to $200.

I had 3 weddings to go to in my last 2 months of my pregnancy. Yes that's right 3!!! all of my close friends got married after I decided to get pregnant, ahhhh. Anywho, I actually found my dress on ebay & love it, it was a stretchy dress & I could easlily wear it now, which I plan to do in a couple of weeks at the Festival Ball we have up here each year. I loved the dress & only cost me $60 incl postage. There is a pic on Charlie's website under the "bump" section.
When I was looking I went for something that would show off cleavage, as I learnt to flaunt the good parts....makes you feel much more sexier. Something stretchy for comfort is a must, black is always a good colour & look into the length depending on fluid retention.....I didn't have any but the person who sold me the dress had just bought it & was getting rid of it due to the fluid in her ankles & length of dress making her look much bigger. Oh yeah, also think about what shoes you can wear before buying the dress? It may be better to get a skirt if you are wanting to wear flat shoes....just a thought.

Have you thought of hiring a dress? Might be worth seeing if you can find a place that hires out maternity wear if it's just the once you'll be needing it. Not sure what cost is involved though....

Erin - What did you type in to search on eBay....Cause I have tried looking but can't find anything.

Petala - That was my first thought and went from hire place to hire place on saturday with mum and could find anything that would fit me and was flowy enough!! Can't find anyone that stocks maternity formal dresses either for hire!!

So I am in abit of a pickle!!

Oh, that's disappointing re the hire places! I was thinking I'd try them next time I'm pregnant and needing a beautiful dress......
Good luck with your search, a beautiful dress can really make you feel good.

    Hi Amelia,

As my range of maternity dresses are all made to order, I can do any of the styles in a plain or printed stretch satin, or make you a custom design. Check out my site if you're interested.

    Cheers,

    Hi Amelia.
    What size are you after?

I have a dress (size 12) here that I have worn once for the races in April. It is strapless, black with big pink flowers and a pink satin ribbon that ties under your bust and above your bump. It is about mid-calf length. I wore it with a bra, and wore a little black cardi over the top to hide the straps. If I don't say so myself, it's very nice.

I dont have a photo, but can get one if you're interested.
I was only going to sell it on eBay anyway. I paid about $160, but will sell it happily for $100.
    Let me know.

Ohhhh Kirst thanks so much for the offer but only one boob would fit in that!! I am normally a size 16 but have had to go up a size cause of the size of my boobs, they have really grown since becoming PG....wait till the milk comes in then I am in trouble!!

LOL re the size of your boobs. I'm usually a 14 on top and a 12 down the bottom, but at the moment....whoa! I made a comment to DH the other day that my boobs weren't THAT big, and he laughed at me.
I was just thankful that I wore it at about 22 weeks, and it's VERY stretchy. I tried it on a few weeks ago to go to the ballet, and it still fits well. It was just too cold to wear it.

Good luck. I hope that you find something.

I got a top that could be worn for evening from cosmic maternity, you can google them and it will come up. They stock sizes up to 26 and priced really well too.

Well I found something by chance on the weekend at Noni-B, yes the old ladies store!! Lol..... Its a two peice skirt and top in a deep purple with glitter at the bottom of the top and bottom of the skirt. Has little butter cup sleeves and gathering around the tummy to the left side where it gathers into a nice diamonte broche(sp?). Thanks all so much for you help, but I have now got another question.......

Can you buy maternity control underwear?? If you can, where from??

I was wanting something to suck in my butt!! Like those shorts you see advertised on tv!!Lol.....

Also, if I wear a underwire for a day it won't do that much damage will it???

Not sure about the 'suck your butt in' undies, but I wore an underwire to my brother's 40th about a month ago. I'm sure you'll be fine for one day.
