Does anyone else HATE clothing sizes?

and i dont mean the size that you are!

i hate that i can go and buy an outfit... and end up with a 10, 12 and an XL. how does that make any sense??

when buying Jeans, im and 8 or 10 (depending on where i get them from..)
when i buy tops (such as from cotton on) i need a L because i have long arms!
In Kmart i bought a pair of fitted type trakkies- size 10. and a zip up jacket- size 18 (ok, the jacket fits over my belly now, but still, its not a huge oversized jacket, and the sleeves and chest part fit perfectly.)

I shop in Target for DD, because i love the range and quality. for her bday, she got
3x long sleeve tops size 5 (yes, she is 3yo)
a pair of jeans and cords size 4.
a parker type jacket with hood size 6.
    leggings size 3.
and a knitted short cardi thingy size 5.
and a dora outfit from her Pa in size 4- i had to get MIL to change it to a bigger size- the size 5 jacket was too small still, but the 5 jeans were about a size too big i ended up exchanging for something completely different!

does anyone else have this pet hate as well??! (perhaps this should be in the vent section!)

all in the one transaction... i thought to myself.. the huy at the counter must think im buying for about 4 different kids... lol

    YES! I HATE IT!

I wish they were consistant, and measured like mens sizes, a 92 is a 92 across different brands... I hate buying one brand a 14 and another brand a 10 because theres no consistancy or policy in place!!!

And I love buying things for Jazz but it annoys me that I have to basically try it on her in the shops because in some brands a size 0 fits, and in others she needs a 2!!!

GRRRRRRR! Wish they had sizing legislation LOL its so frustrating!

I agree!! I can wear a size 10, 12, 14. M and L pretty much all at the same time! It drives me insane having to take 3 different sizes of the same thing to the change room to get the one that fits me.

DD1 is 3 and is currently wearing size 2, 3 and 4 - she is skinny so 2 skirts fit best, she has long legs so size 3 pants that have to be pulled in at the waist and she has extra long arms (like her daddy) so has to wear size 4 jackets to fit them.

Same here - completely frustrated by it. It is so hard for me at the moment as I am between "normal" sizes and "fatty" sizing. So often I don't fit any clothing. Too small for Autograph, but too big for other stores Also hate how they say buy jeans one size smaller than your normal size, why don't they just relabel to the jeans in the first place to be your size. If you are a 14 and they are meant to fit a 14, then label them a 14, not a 12!

Kids sizes are awful. Bought DD1 a pair of jeans from Kmart. The hanger said size 4 and we put them on. Very surpised that they fit her so well in the legs, normally legs are way to long. After a couple of wears, realised they were a size 2! Someone had switched hangers. Yet she needs 4 to 5 in tops from there.

I hate that I can have a pair of undies on that fit perfectly yet the pants I have on over top are two sizes smaller but too big.... It's so annoying. You used to be able to say I am a size 12 / 14 / 16 etc and that was it, now there is no consistency with anything.

Yep I hate it too - I think it's an evil ploy to make us feel thinner than we are! I am sure sizes are getting bigger - I can wear a 12 bottom in some things and never before could I do that - always a 14. The variety of sizing also pings me off - I have a top which is an 8, one that's a 10 and mostly 12's and also some 14's!

i hate sizings too , normally in an 8 in 8 kmart 10 in bigw and target and a size large in cotton on , jayjays and jeans west im a size 9 but in just jeans im a 10 (just) when i wear dresses im an 8 but pants im a 10 and in the supre and valley girl im a 10-12 ... and same with city beach brands im more of a 12 .. BUT if you take my measurements im bust 34 in bust and 29 in waist and a 37in hips ... so ideally an 8 but i can never go in any buy an 8 off the rack , dont get me started on shoes ..... sometimes a size 6 in womens is too big , so i have to shop in the kids scetion for a size 5-6 in kids shoes .... no fun when i want a killer pair of heels

and clothing with DD .... she is 9 mths and wears a 00 , her age suggest she wears a 0 but they are waay to long and baggy on her , i guess its her size , but alot of the cute funky stuff starts in a 0 so she is stuck in cutesy things with bears on them , which is not my style she is a smaller bub and is only 7.4 kgs , so even tho this winter she is a 00 , next winter she will be 2 and i cant really keep that size for next winter ..

with DS he was a chunker and wore sz 1 from around 10mths , and now he is 2.5 he can still wear size 1 and 2 pants and top ... and i reckon he will be in sz 2 when he is 3 .. guess with kids it depends on their body ... but with ladies ... its just frustrating ..

these days i go by measurment , not by size , esp when buying online ..

LOL, me too. I can't shop in womens 'boutique' store cause they don't make bigger than 12-14's but in Big w/target/kmart, I fit into some of the 14's (usually 16). Since having kids my body shape has changes and I no longer fit into clothes like I used to. I used to be able to buy off the rack, 12-14's or larges and they were generally guarenteed to fit, now I have to try everything on. I hate it!!

I don't mind so much, i generally know now what size i am in which labels, some run really small and some are more generous.

I LOVE Cue because there sizing is huge, and so a 6 is like a real 10, does wonders for my self esteem

i just wish there were sizes that reflected measurements!

another thing i thought about, was pants length.. im quite tall (5'8/5'9) and one pair of jeans i have are an 8.. yet they are perfect length for me, even when i have my runners on (which add about an inch of height because of the way they're made.) yet i think to myself... what if i was only 5'4 ??

    argh! lol
