I have REALLY sensitive skin, to the point where if I bump my arm, leg etc I get large welts. I have been 'diagnosed' with urtacaria (hives) and take an anti histamine when it gets really bad. My face is also super sensitive. I get all "rashy" even just applying my make up!
Just wondering if anyone uses facial skin care products for sensitive skin, and if so which ones?
I am currently using QV facial wash & moisturiser (both for sensitve skin) and Simple brand exfoliator.
Would love to hear from anyone else that has sensitive skin, and any 'tips' or reccomendations
Thanks!
I would lay off all things bought from shops like that.
I dont have access to the recipes atm but you can make natural cosmetics.....you know, oats as a masque an carrot oils for your skin and things.
If your skin is as sensitive as it sounds, I would never use anything with chemicals, avoid perfumes and colours too. Look up some natural cosmetcs and I think you will be amazed with what you can make yourself at home from very regular ingredients
Good luck!
As silly as this sounds, I'd never thought you using 'natural' products.
Should I just google "natural cosmetics" for 'recepies'?
Will definately look into that!
I'm lucky to have skin that can take a fair bit of punishment, but a lot of my friends have issues with sensitive skin and I have heard nothing but good things about Clinque's range for sensitive skin (I'm not sure if all their products are designed for sensitive skin or if they have specific formulations just for it).
Of course they also do cosmetics, not just skincare, I'm not well-informed on natural remedies but I find it a bit hard to believe that you can whip up eyeliner and lipstick with kitchen ingredients!! But then it depends on whether you like wearing makeup, too... I can't get out of bed in the morning without a slick of lip gloss and two coats of mascara so I know I'd be up the creek if my skin were to become very sensitive!
I have "problem" skin. I find that no one product works best: I like Lacome blue cleanser and toner with their pink neurozen hydracalm (PMSL at the name even when I bought it!) moisturiser, which seems to calm mine down (and got rid of that HORRID pregnancy rash that lingered for well over a year). Elizabeth Arden do some great make-up.
FOR ME. Sadly I think it's mostly trial and error with what works. Because other recommendations didn't work for me.
LH - NP There was a thread on it I think - or something similar.
Avocado, mint and oatmeal scrub is really good. Lavender or TiTree oil can be used to help clear up ay blemishes, you can also get With Hazel toner which is excellent. (Its the only I can use on my face).
You could also try a sorbolene cream for moisturiser, just find one that is as pure as possible. I cant remember the name - Redwin maybe? - do a daily moisturiser of almost pure sorbolene. I find it a bit heavy to use EVERY day though.
makeyourowncosmetics dot com has heaps of different recipes....try some and see how you go
PS - I think Clinique make their products specifically for sensitive skin, ie their products are all fragrence and colour free i think
ETA - also modernwife dot com have a section from Dr Hulda Clark on home made and natural cosmetics which is really interesting too
