Question Sick of dry skin - please help me!!

I am now sick of my dry skin!! I had dry skin before my pg, but it was under control. NOW I look like a Nile Crocodile!! I am even dry on my boobies!!
I use a bodycream at night after a shower. Mind u I shower in very hot water - I know its not helping, but it is sooooooo gd cold at the moment. I can't wait for summer. Every other night I apply some babyoil, but it's not helping.

Can anyone give me some tips on how to get my skin to feel like my dd bottom?

HAve you tried just using sorbolene in the shower instead of soap?

I use alpha keri oil in the shower or bath instead of soap often to help seal in moisture. I get dry skin in winter so use something like cetaphil or QV wash and then alpha keri oil if I'm dirty, otherwise just alpha keri oil.

Have you tried the Miessence range?? I found the sunflower wash to be very gentle & wonderful for my skin, and will get that next time I run out. I used it when I was pregnant with Jovie & love it!

There's a thread about the miessence range somewhere around here...

Do you exfoliate in the shower at all? I have really dry skin on my face this pg and found that exfoliating in the shower and then putting on a good vitamin e cream has worked wonders for me. The Miessence range is great too - I really like their intensive body cream for the rest of my body.

    Hi Nadine,

How much water do you drink during the day and do you take fish oil tablets? If it's an internal problem with your body, no amount of cream will help applied on top of your skin, the nourishment has to come from the inside out!! I've had severe eczema for years and also dry skin... so i've tried everything... and now i know what types of foods/drinks to avoid and what i should be having more of!

I have had the same problem lately!! However I seemed to have fixed it. I bought some baby bath oil (johnson and johnsons) and soaked in a warm bath with that a couple of times a week and its gone now. My skin felt really nice after the bath. Definitely worth a try....and you get to relax too

ooh, stay away from the baby oil - petrochemicals dry the skin!
Drink more, try really hard to have a cooler shower (I am sooo guilty of this myself), and moisturise as soon as you get out of the shower.

I was just saying it really helped me....my skin was so dry it was constantly itchy and the baby oil baths made a huge difference.

Lulu2 - I like the drink more - I hope you mean wine! I know you mean water.
    Thanks for the replies.
I do drink a lot of water, and no I do not exfoliate, I get goosebumps when I think about it.
I am trying shorter showers. Can't bring the water temp down just yet, so I am compromising by not standing until DH tells me I am going to melt and I have found this gorgeous cream in the supermarket for very, very dry skin (it says so on the bottle), so I am hoping that it works. We don't have that Miessence range. It sounds divine!
I am thinking of taking a fish-oil supplement, thanks keira.
I tried the babyoil thing - but DH gets anoyed, because I apply in the shower, so the floor is all oiled up and ready for slipping

QV is what I use. There is a wash, a bath oil and skin lotions / creams.

Excellent for really dry skin recommended by dermatologist and I haven't looked back.

    Hi Nadine,

I also use QV Repair Cream after every shower and it prevents any further drying
