    Tinting

Is eyebrow tinting perminant? If not, how long does it last for? Is it just like having your hair dyed or is it done totally differently?

I'm not sure Tegan i've never had it done but i've had my eyelashes tinted and that seems to last a few weeks for me... i would imagine brows would be the same?

I'm not quite sure TBH! I usually have my eyes closed! Basically they get a little tub of dye and paste it on with a little brush i think? And you lie there with your eyes closed while they do it and they put little sheets of cotton pads in between your eyelashes (in between top row and bottom row) and you lie there for 20mins afterwards and cant open your eyes as they are drying and the dye sets in...
did that make sense? sorry!! but its good and i get it done every 6 weeks or so(whenever i have time!) i love getting it done its worth it. makes your eyes stand out more & dont have to apply mascara for a few weeks then!

They put the dye on & you have to keep your eyes closed for the 15-20 mins (I think) while it dyes then it gets washed off. Both eyelashes & eyebrows are the same as hair dying, it eventually wears off. I guess with washing your face more than washing your hair it's faster. I know my sister gets hers done every 6 weeks when she gets her hair done.

    I can answer your questions:

Eyebrows: it depends on how fair your brows are, and how well your hair takes to tint as well. And how long they leave the tint on your brows. I have brown brows, and I like them to be quite dark - so I can leave the tint on for ages (like 5-10 min). But if you were blonde and you only wanted to enhance your brows... I wouldn't leave it on for any longer then 1-2 minutes. (depending on how it takes). There are times I've had to apply tint to brows, then remove within a minute! So it depends on what colour your brows are, what colour is applied, and how long it is left on.

Having said all that... the brow tint should last anywhere from 4 weeks to around 8 weeks. It is a permanent dye... but like hair colour; it fades, and eyebrows regenerate and old hairs fall out, new hairs grow.

    Eyelash tints:
As with brow tint... a colour is mixed with a few drops of peroxide. The eye area is prepared - usually putting eyepads under the eye area to protect the skin from getting any tint on it. Client closes their eyes, and tint is applied to the lashes. Tint starts to take effect the moment it is applied to the eyes. They say that it de-activates after 10 minutes - so it would be pointless to leave it on the lashes for 20 minutes. We usually leave it on around 8-10 minutes.. and that is timed after we applied it to the eyes which takes a couple of minutes. To prevent any stinging, the client must refrain from squiting. Although tint can't damage your eyes... it can sting if you get any tint in your eyes. So best to relax, close your eyes... and ideally the therapist should apply an eyemask (or a hand towel at the very least) over your eyes whilst the tint is on. When it's ready to come off, I firstly remove any excess tint with a cotton bud. Then I remove the eyepads. I use a damp cotton ball and wipe the tint off the eyelashes. I also use wet cotton buds to ensure that there is no tint left on the lashes. Some therapists pour water over the whole eye area, with the clients head turned to the side. I hate doing this. There is no need to do this - and if the excess tint isn't removed from the start - then there is a good chance that the therapist can get tint in the eye when they are attempting to remove it! And there is nothing worse then water being poured down the side of your face (and into the ears!).

Eyelash tints usually last 4-6 weeks. Eyelashes tend to regenerate quite fast... so old hairs fall out quite regularly.

Hope this has answered your questions. If you have any more... just ask

    That would be great Tegan.

I don't usually work in the salon - but one of my staff is on holidays - so I'm there on Thursdays and Saturdays for the next 4 weeks.

If you are able to come on one of those days - you can request me - but any of the staff can do the treatments - I train them all myself!

ooohhh... just noticed you're in Newcastle! My entire family are up there. My parents moved to melbourne when they got married. I love newcastle.

best to book in advance if possible. Particularly if it's Thurs or Sat (the busiest days). But if you're not sure of your plans... we will do our absolute best to get you in at short notice.

If you phone - mention that you are a friend of Jodie's The staff will juggle clients if they have to!

There's a do it yrself kit you can buy at places like pharmacies and price attacks. It says something like 1,000 hours. I dye my eyelashes and also my eyebrows with it. You can do it on yrself - you use the wand like a mascara brush, keep it on for 10 mins then wash it off with soaked cotton wool balls.

It costs abt 20 bucks and is far cheaper than going to a salon and having it done.
