Pls explain how girls clothes & shoes sizes convert to womens sizes?

Could someone please explain how the larger girls sizes convert to adult sizes. I noticed at Target today there weren't any size 16 clothes in some things, I wondered if that meant we were supposed to look for size 8 in the women's section?

I'm totally freaked out because last year she was in a size 5 girl's shoe and now suddenly in she's nearly too big for a ladies size 7. WTH is going on???

Yeah I'd say a kids 16 is about equal to a ladies 8. I know in my younger adulthood I got away with a 16 if I liked it.

Sorry MD. Just saw this thread after posting in your other one. I am not sure on how it works and what is equal to what but what Nelle said makes sense.

Yep a size 16 would be around an 8 in woman's. Before having kids I would do my shopping in the larger section of kids wear LOL

Thanks for that...since I inhabit the other far reaches of the women's clothing sizes (and always have might I add, am tall as well as wide)...are the size 8s cut with as much curve in them as other ladies sizes? Cos poor DD doesn't have enough boob to put into the few ladies things we've tried on...

Lol, I sometimes don't have enough boob for the ladies things either. The big stores usually have a line aimed at younger women, like Hot Options and um...Girl Express? (Does that sound right?) So that might work. Maybe Urban Angel at Pumpkin Patch still has 16's? I think they do.

I buy kids size 5 shoes for myself & I usually vary between a 6 & 7 in ladies shoes.
I can get my Nike air max 90's for nearly 1/2 the price by buying kids

Oh yeah, I got away with the cross dressing right up until she was 9 ...then she twigged and I haven't been able to do it since. Plus she's getting my hips so the straighter cuts don't work for her.

Nelle, not sure where Girl Express is at?? or Hot Options for that matter either . But we did go to Urban Angel today, they had an end of season sale on...LOTS of smaller sizes and very few of the larger ones so maybe everyone is having problems with the cut of things this season. Oh, perfect place by the way if you're interested in JEGGINGS...they musta had at least 15 variations on the jeggings theme! Needless to say we came home with a pair since they were one thing that actually fit

Sorry, I was far too vague. One is at Target, the other at Kmart, I just couldn't remember which was which. Just in case you were looking at other lines? They're not thatgreat, I just thought if any of the womenswear was going to work, it'd be those lines.

I think Miss Shop at Myer might have some smaller sizes, and that's aimed at youth (hence the 'miss' I guess).

Marydean, so i have 5 more years to get away with crossdressing bilby ha ha, thanks for that. She's so particular about clothes already, now i can't find hot pink little boy's polos, i am in trouble already (at 4).
