What type of sunnies do you have?

A couple of years ago, I decided to splurge on a good pair of sunnies for DH. He picked out a pair of Maui Jim's.. Ooh, how nice they are! I have been envious of them since he got them.

The other week, I decided that I was going to get myself a good pair. Went to 2 different shops, and didn't like any of the Maui Jims that they had

Then I walked around the cabinet and came across....DKNY...oooh, there were some pretty ones there. I picked out a pair to try on, and they didn't suit me at all Bummer!!

So in the end I walked away with no sunnies.

What sunglasses do you wear. What do you love about them?
I'm not real big on the big 'bug eye' sunglasses. I prefer a more sleek slimline, black...absolutely must be black, pair.
    What's your style?

I have some Jonathon Sceats that I absolutely love, but they are my going out ones. For everyday wear around the farm I have cancer council polarised ones, which are excellent for cutting out the glare and very comfy on my face.

Ive had all sort over the years and my fav`s are probably the pair I wear the most purchased for only $40 from a pharmacy a few years ago.
They havent broken or been lost or stolen (haha - some idiot broke into our car recently and only thing they took was a $5 pair I had in the glove box, spares for driving incase I lost my others. I call them an idiot cause they took cr@py sunnies - more than because they broke in), hardly scratch, they have always been comfy, go well with everything I wear...

I have never forked out hundreds, mostly cause when I have tried those ones on they dont look quite right to me.... not sure why?

i have magnetic clip on's to go on my everyday specs! they suit me cos i made sure of it - i wear them ALL the time when i'm outside (very light sensitive eyes)

when i was using contacts all the time, i had a pair of black raybans - loved them, but the dumb cleaner at uni came into my room, knocked them off the bench and broke the arm off them - i was sooo peeved at her!

We got married and honeymooned in the Greek Islands and we flew home via Dubai. If you've ever been you'll know how HUGE the airport is, it is packed with boutique designer stores.

So I decided to have a splurge and bought myself a pair of black Chanel sunglasses duty-free.

They are my baby - I am forever cleaning them and examining them for scratches. If they are not on my face they are in their special case - they NEVER go on my head.

    Oh how I love them!!

I'm not usually a brand name girl but when it comes to sunglasses and handbags - it's Chanel, Marc Jacobs and Prada all the way

I have a pair of serengeti glasses, they are photochromatic(sp?), they get darker in the sun, my dh uses them for driving as he is on the road alot and they are great, you wont get a better pair as far as the lenses are concerned, aparently they are used by piolets but dont quote me on that. they are quite expencive, but there is a place in brisbane that sell them in sale, i paid $80 for mine and they where marked down from $380, if you like i can find out the name of the shop, they have all different brands and you might be able too get 2 pair for the price of one

The Maui Jims have the polarised lenses as well. I couldn't believe how much glare they actually cut out and the colour of everything around you seems so much more vibrant.

Thanks for the offer Dasharity we don't live anywhere near Brissie. Hopefully we will be getting a new car in the next couple of months from around brisbane, so might have to go for a drive with DH to pick it up and drop by DFO on our way out.

The shop where I tried them on said they could order a pair like DH's in for me, I just have to get the number off the sunnies for them. I don't like my chances of convincing DH about a pair of sunnies after losing my purse for half a week and only finding it today lol!

I have 2 pairs: a pair of black Oroton ones which I love love love which I bought before Olivia was born and they are still going strong.

And my other faves are tortoise shell Bolle ones.

Both are amazingly comfy, and have rose tinted lenses, so even the most dismal day looks beautiful.....

I have mauis and love them...Mauis are also the only sunglasses to be coated on the inside so they also catch the glare and UV that reflects up into the inside of the lenses...very cool!!

I've got a brown Oroton pair of sunglasses and normal Wayne Cooper specs that have tinted lenses so I don't have to keep whipping between glasses and sunnies if I'm going to work.

I do have one regret with the Wayne Cooper pair. They've got little plastic wotsits that sit on the side of the nose as cushioning. Well, I like to put my glasses on my head and generally fiddle around with them and the plastic bits are forever getting caught in my hair.

I wear glasses for vision. When I got them I thought about getting a pair of prescription sunglasses and the optomitrist said that I could get any frame and swap the normal lenses for prescription. That was going to be very expensive so I just got the Transition lenses on my normal vision glasses. It's not as dark as actual sunglasses, but it really helps with sunglare and it means that I don't loose any glasses coz I'm not swapping them around all the time.
I am looking forward to buying a nice pair of sunglasses, but I'll wait until I can afford to get contact lenses.
