Think I'm gonna have to copy all the BB recipes and make up a BB recipe book for use at home!
I made this yesterday, yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...............
Do I have to keep it in the fridge?
Just realised that I have all those ingredients!! Should I or shouldn't I
Yes, Astrid, yes you should......;)
I make a simular one with pecans instead of coconut, but then the kiddies can't take it to school..... Thanks Trillian, this will be perfect... and delish!!!:clap:
Omg my mouth is watering right now need energy wish i had it to make something yummmmm like this.
How well will shreaded coconut work intsed of desicated?
Gonna give this a go ready for supper tonight :) but will have to make butter icing - no cream or choc in house.
that sounds deliciously evil Trillian ... love it. I am so going to make a batch of this for my baby shower.

I HATE fudges and slices to be cold and "fridge-y" tasting, so always put it in the cupbourd, but it never lasts too long anyway!!!:p
Should be fine babe....
Heaven - I would say so - at the very least for the ganache part of the recipe. Maybe lock it into an air tight container.
I know when I make my mud cakes if they are left out for a while the ganache goes soft and can ooze a little (but then I also add alcomohole to it ;) )

oops....
I always use ganache icing on cupcakes for the kids, and its always been fine in my cake tins in the cupbourd... but then again, with 5 of them eating them, they are only last 2 days!!
Yeah I reckon it would be better room temp too but was wondering about the ganache, hmm......
pmsl, I'll prob eat it in 2 days by myself anyway.
I am looking for some quick sweet slice recipes. I have a few slice cookbooks and my own favs but often I find the best slice recipes come handed from people iykwim? I prefer ones that don't take three or four layers to do! I have a number off here- the hedgehog, malteser, cherry ripe.... already down pat!
i have one that has a coconut chocolate biscuit base and custard icing top - will drag out the recipe tomorrow and post - DD due to wake up any minute
I do an anzac biscuit base with a lemon icing drizziled over the top. Always goes down well.
xx
Jen- Is the Anzac one chewy or crunchy? BG- that sounds yummy!
My mum just taught me an easy peasy treacle slice a few weeks ago. I've made a few batches since!
Melt 125g butter in a medium saucepan with 1/4 C brown sugar and (generous) 1/4 C treacle. Allow to cool. Beat in 1 egg. Mix a cup of sultanas and about 3/4 cup of SR flour (maybe a bit more... go by feel. The thicker the mixture the more biscuity as opposed to fudgy it will be). Bake in slow-mod oven for 15-20 mins.
Very simple. You can put a vanilla icing on it too, but I prefer it without. (And I like it fudgy :) )
I have been wondering lately if you can freeze slices. You know, pieces of slice. Lol.
Yes? No? Do you? Have you? If so, do some slices not freeze that well?
I'm thinking of making a marshmellow rice bubble slice.
For some reason I feel a little (actually alot ) silly asking.

Hmm, I don't think it's a silly question!
I freeze brownies successfully, but I think that's mainly cause they're quite cakey. I'm not sure that I'd freeze rice bubble slice though... There's only one way to find out :)
Yes, you can freeze slices. When the DD's were younger and I could cook without adding to my frame, I used to make a few slices at a time the freeze mixed. Make sure the container seals well.
It was nice to be able to pull out a container and have a variety of slices available. Especially good if you have visitors or need to take something somewhere. :)
Forget trying the freeze the jelly slice
COCONUT FUDGE SQUARES
4oz butter
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 level tablespoons cocoa
1 cup SR flour
pinch of salt
1/2 cup coconut
Melt butter and mix in sugar.
Add egg and beat well.
Mix in vanilla and cocoa.
Add sifted flour and salt alternatively with coconut.
Spread into a well greased lamington tin and bake in a moderate oven (180c) for 20 minutes.
Ice while hot with chocolate icing when set, cut into squares.
For a healthier cookie this is delish!
1 ripe banana
1 tbsp of olive oil
¾ c of oats
⅓ c ground almonds
⅓ tsp baking powder
dark chocolate chips
Mix mashed banana with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, ¾ cup of oats and ⅓ cup ground almonds. Stir in ⅓ teaspoon of baking powder, dark chocolate chips, dollop onto baking paper and bake at 180°C for 12 minutes.
DP and DD are going camping tomorrow with another dad and his two girls. I want to make some (lots) of small cookies for them to take.
Any good recipes would be gratefully received!
TIA :)
Jam drops would be great:
2 cups pl flour
3/4 cup sugar
125g butter
2 level teas baking soda
2 eggs
jam
Cream butter and sugar, add eggs one at a time, beating well. Add sifted flour, baking powder. Mix well. Roll into small balls and press a indent in middle. Fill with jam and bake in moderate oven for about 15 mins.
You can pretty well use this plain mixture and add in extras for variety biscuits:
Add in 1 cup sultanas and roll in cornflakes for cornflake bikkies
Add in choc chips
Add in peanuts
Add in 1/2 cup coconut for coconut bikkies
Put a lolly/freckle on top of each one
Hope this helps!
Thanks Ausgirl!
Does anyone have a recipe for biscuits that are as similar as possible to the biscuits used to make monte carlos? I don't seem to have a recipe that is crisp enough, or is simply too crisp. I have just read through all twenty two pages in this thread, with no luck. Except to now be super hungry for sugary slices, etc. Thank you! :)
THis thread is going to kill me. It's 9pm and I am wanting an early night but I'm thinking I'll end up baking.
This is DS's fave biscuit at the moment...ok, mine too ;) no added sugar, dairy free, freeze really well and last awhile on the bench. They're really forgiving so you can overlook and they're still great. And you can substitute ingredients for others depending on what you have... I added ground flaxseeds today. And you can make them nut free for lunch boxes.
