You can buy cupcake tins hun....I got mine from KMART and they are just smaller than the muffin ones![]()
Ok, is it just me, but I can find different sized patty pans but not the tins that match. The large patty tins fit a muffin tin, so that is fine as I have those. It is the medium sized patty pans I have the trouble with, I am unable to find a tin that suits. Some recipes call for the small tin, as I have found that the recipe with say it makes a certain number of cupcakes, but I get no where near that amount.
So it there a tin size out there somewhere, or is everyone just putting the smaller papers in the larger tins?

I know what you mean. Everything seems to be heading towards the supersized cup cake, which to me is a muffin.
I just use my muffin tray for the 'normal' cupcake sized patty pans, I have noticed that the only small cupcake trays are rounded so you cannot put patty pans in them.
I will be interested to see if anyone knows where to find one.
ETA: Thanks Dee, will have to go look in Kmart.
have you tried buying smaller cupcake papers and just using the muffin tin for support?
If you buy the foil tins they are support in themselves IYKWIM.
I buy most things like that online.
Well House finally stocked some patty tins (they were actually called that). They stock a number of patty pans, but none that fit. I have some old ones at home that do fit, but I was not able to find another pack at my local supermarket. There were some that looked right, but when I got them home they were too big. So looks like I will need to buy the patty cases online. Completely frustrating finally finding the tin size that I thought I wanted, only find it may be a bit useless down the track![]()
I bought some from Big W late last year. They are small patty size and fit the Allens (or Alpen's, can't remember the brand) papers in the small size- the white and the multicoloureds. The tins were cheap and bright silver so not nonstick and only came in six holes (so I got two!) but were the smaller size that I had been searching for.
The tray I found fits the Alpen papers, so I think when I finally find a shop down here that sells them I will be buying the lot!
No Big W down here, lots of talks of one and fights over where it will go. Just wish they would make up their minds and get it built!
