I've frozen cooked scones and scone dough. Scone dough wasn't flash at all - definitely no resemblance to the way cookie dough works!!! The scones defrosted ok but we had to make sure we ate them still warm from the initial defrost/reheat because after that they were pretty heavy going.

    Found this:

    How to Freeze Baked Scones

Before freezeing scones, ensure the scones have cooled down. Wrap the scones in an airtight packaging and or freeze. To reheat the scones, unwrap them, thaw them and then place onto a baking sheet in a 350 degrees oven for 10 minutes or until warm.

    Freezing unbaked:
You can freeze unbaked scones for later cooking, if you prefer. Once you have your dough cut into rounds, place them on a baking sheet and place, uncovered in your freezer. The dough will freeze after about one hour.

Once your scones are firm, put them into a zip bag and place them back in your freezer.

When you are ready to enjoy - remove as many as you require, and let them sit at room temperature on a piece of baking paper while you preheat the oven. Your scones should only be allowed to thaw as long as it takes the oven to preheat. Once the oven is ready, put the scones onto a fresh baking sheet and bake. You may need to increase the baking time by a few minutes.
    Never done it myself though...

A cafe I worked at *many* years ago always used frozen scones. It was one of those places that the pensioners loved and they loved the scones, so they must have frozen ok.

Sure I heard the CWA ladies talk about freezing scones for catering.

Mum used to freeze them a lot but only for using as a base for savory scones. Not sure how they'd go for defrosting and just eating (with jam and cream for example). Though, come to think of it, even before freezing mums scones weren't made for jam and cream lol. Hubby's never last long enough to freeze

I think it would depend on what you're planning on going with them...

I was thinking of making some with the boys for their recess snack but now I'm thinking it's not such a good idea.

I don't think they'd stay fresh after defrosting for long enough.

I have and they really need to be microwaved or rewarmed to be tasty.
