How far ahead could I make it?

I am making a cake for a friends baby shower. It will probably be a white chocolate cake with fondant. It will be for Friday, so two days time. I have time to do it today, would it be ok to do today? Will it still be fresh? I can do it tomorrow, though today is better for me.
