Yummmmm... cant wait until bananas are back in season and CHEAP again!
HI, There was some talk in the BB 16-30 Jul 07 Thread about Lemonade scones, they are so easy and fast that I thought I would share with everyone.
4 cups SR FLour
1 300ml tub of cream (plus extra cream for eating later)
Pinch of salt
1 can of lemonade
Put sifted flour, salt and cream in a bowl add lemonade gradually (because you won't need the whole can You should have enough lemonade over to have a couple of swigs for you.) and stir it all up to a dough just like you normally would.
Roll it out, cut it out cook it just in an average oven.
I know these don't look much like directions but seriously this is how I cook them and they are great, they are a wing it kind of thing, great last minute and no rubbing in the butter.
I hope this makes sence
My mum uses lemonade and it really seems to help make yummy scones!!!
I love these. Great idea. I would never have believed the difference the lemonade made until I tried them....you have inspired me!
It sounds too easy Becca. I'll have to try them. Thanks!
Help!! LOL!
I'd planned on making waffles for Christmas Breakfast... "In the morning, I'm makin' waffles!" but can't find my waffle book. Does anyone have a tried and true waffle recipe?
Yep I do :) Its easy as... its also a great pancake batter...
It doesn't involve all that hard work like whisking egg whites ;) Unless you want one with whisked egg whites LOL!
*hugs*
Cailin
Nah, it's Christmas morning Cai, I think I'll go for nice and easy but yummy all the same.
Thanks honey
OMG I just had the hugest FREAK OUT! I could not find my recipe book (my own personal little book that I write recipes in and put recipes in)... gonna pass it over to Paris (or Seth LOL) some day... Found it... and only minus a few hairs...
Ok Waffle Recipe...
1 Cup SR Flour
2TBS Sugar
1 TBS Oil
1 Egg
3/4 Milk
1 Tsp Vanilla
Mix together... Now I think this makes about 4 waffles... So you may want to double even triple it depending on how hungry you are... Now these aren't super fluffy waffles, but they are very good none the less :D
I'm soooo sad my waffle maker burnt out :( We normally have waffles xmas morning too...
*cry*
Oh and its a superb pancake recipe...
*hugs*
Cailin
Ah Cailin you're a legend again.....and I get you on the recipe book thing too. Glad you found it.
I wasn't real keen on whisking egg white Chrissie morn especially since Darcy is totally not a fan of the mixmaster. This is just what I need.
Thanks Cai baby. I so hear you stressing about YOUR recipe book. Glad you found it.
I love my waffle maker, but dont tell shane - he bought it for me last Christmas!!! I have the Woddle one, that makes waffles like penguins. It was only about $25 I think, and its really great. Jenna loves them :D
And I do the beaten egg white. The waffles come out so nice with them like that :D
OOh - I think we might have waffles this morning!
Ooh, maybe I need a recipe with beaten egg whites in them if they are so good. Fi, Kim or Cai, can you please post it so I can make an 'informed' decision! Thanks
LOL I've had both and there isn't *that* much difference cept for the hard work LOL!
Fi go ahead and post your recipe I might try it when I get a *new* waffle iron.
Sarah has that waffle maker (or should I say aaron) she made me vegemite and cheese woddles when I was there... They were yummo!
I prefer the original waffle iron shape though, there's just something about butter and maple syrup getting caught in all the little squares... I WANT WAFFLES!!!!!
*hugs*

I used this recipe for pancakes this morning! Eveyone loved them! How easy! Beautiful heart shaped pancakes for the last day of the year. My family were very happy! Blake loved them too!
How good is that recipe??? I've chucked my other one. So much easier, and I made them both ways (pancakes and waffles I mean). They'll even give my mum's a run for her money....
i have a recipe book i've like to pass on one day too cai, i hide mine, otherwise the boys would rip pages out!! Just put the recipe on pape, have to test it myself before it goes in "The Book" LOL!!!
Hi Becca,
How many ml are your cans of lemonade? We have 340ml cans and 200ml cans... :)
Thanks
These are yummo scones!!
Kimi... My sis' recipe says 300ml of room temp lemonade :)
Tanya
Thanks Tanya :)
HI Kim,
I think the original recipie was about the 340ml mark because it was an American recipie. My cans are 375ml, which is why I don't use the full can. I would go for the bigger can and just add it gradually until you don't need any more.
I love this recipie though, It's great and if you know you might have guests coming over you can whip them up really quickly and they cook quick and you can even wait until just before you need them, and they'll be really fresh.
They are good for cravings too, because they don't take too long,
Now I feel like scones.
Thought I'd bump this after the Pancake recipe query ;)
ANNNNNND I got banana's for $2.99/kg at aldi WOW!
*hugs*

My MIL makes lemonade scones all the time and she uses this recipe:
3 cups SR Flour
1 cup Cream
1 Cup Lemonade (she uses is warm too)
She also makes golden syrup scrolls out of the mixture as well. When you flatten it out to cut out scones, leave it as is and drizzle golden syrup over the top to cover. Roll up and cut into scrolls. Place in a baking dish. Then mix about 3/4 cup golden syrup with about a cup of boiling water. Pour this over the scrolls and then sprinkle them with coconut. Cook for around 40 minutes or until brown and cooked through. YUMMY!
Ooh that sounds like a yummy variation too. Will have to try that. They'd be awesome with macadamia's in too Oh yum!
I might even make some tonight Fletch. DH's working late and the kids are in bed (although Blake's protesting!)
Wish you lived round the corner so you could come and have some with me.
*bump*
So who's having pancakes on Tuesday??
Mememememememe *much munch* and I'm having them now just to test the recipe to make sure it still works... and yep its still good...
*hugs*
Cailin
Definately Pancakes here as well. Saw this recipe in New Idea and was also on Sunrise the other day. Not exactly healthy but great in school lunch boxes.
MILO PANCAKES
3 eggs separated
1 cup buttermilk (makes them light/fluffy)
1 1/2 cups self raising flour - sifted
1/2 cup milo
1/4 cup brown sugar - firmly packed
1/4 cup milk choc melts - optional
cooking oil spray
1. Whisk egg yolks and buttermilk until smooth
2. Combine flour, milo, sugar. Make wll in centre and gradually stir in buttermilk mixture. Stir to form a smooth batter. Add in choc bits if desired.
3. Beat egg whites in separate bowl until firm peaks form. Fold in egg whites in 2 batches - don't beat in, best to use metal spoon so don't loose the air.
4. Use non-stick frypan, spray lightly with cooking oil. Drop tablespoons into pan. Cook on one side until bubbles start to form. Gently turn over and they should start to puff up, leave for approx 1 min. Remove from pan and enjoy warm or cold.
*drool* Ursula, I think they might be the one's for us tomorrow :D
Yep we are getting into the whole Shrove Tuesday. My mum used to do it so I am passing it through to Alan and hopefully also when we have children.
Mmmmmmmmmmm pancakes, think we will have them too, yummy. Will try and start this tradition now that we have Jonah :)
Just a question, what is buttermilk?
Tegan buttermilk is skim milk that is slightly sour. It's acidic nature when mixed with self raising flour creates bubbles of air in the pikelet mixture which makes them lighter, flufflier and gets the tunnels of air in the pikelet when cooked. Low fat milk can be substituted.
We're having milo pancakes for dessert tonight :) Nothing to major for dinner, so we can have our pancake pigout after ;)
We are having Pasta Bake for dinner, an hour later we are having Cinammon Pancakes with rasberries, strawberries, cream and sugar/lemon.
Milo Pancakes????!!!!?? How do you do those Sarah??? :D
ETA: Ok just saw the recipe a few posts up! Doh!
Oh yum, Milo pancakes for us tonight too!!
LOL Rachel! I just made them ready for tonight & they are deeeelish :D
Aaand Tegan I just used regular milk & they are perfect.
Well, how was everyone's pancakes?
I made the Milo pancakes - yummy.
I used our normal straight from the cow milk ;) and used the no egg egg replacer, they turned out fine :D
