    Question Scones

I made scones for the first time last week using 3 cups SR flour and a cup each of cream and lemonade, placed them nice and close together and brushed with milk. They tasted nice but weren't very high.

I popped them into a preheated oven of 220C, then turned it down to 180C for just under 20 minutes. Should I have had the oven hotter? What about adding some baking powder to raise them a bit more? If so, how much?

    Any hints?

    TIA.

my recipe for those is 4cups SR flour 1 cup of cream and a can of lemonaide.

    they are not so doughy..

with scones its best not to over work them or they wont rise and can be tough.

I use 3 cups of flour, half milk & half lemonade.
As Doudou said, if you overmix them they get tough - btdt

My grandma makes the best scones, she adds a small teaspoon of baking powder & a small tablespoon of icing sugar.I'm going to give it a go one of these days....

Yep, I always chuck in an extra tablespoon of baking powder to get extra lift. YUM now I want scones!
