    How long do you bleed?

Sorry, not sure if this is the right place for this post. I m/c last Friday (10 days ago) at 11wks. I had thought that I would bleed for a week, but it seems to have picked up a little after 3 very light days. How long is 'usual' for the bleeding to go on? Also, will my next period be 4-ish weeks after I stop bleeding? Can't wait to try again.

    Thanks!

    Hey Jaapie

sorry to hear about your m/c

you would expect to bleed for about the same lenght of time as a normal period, just a bit heavier

if your loss has an offensive odor or has gone from light to heavy with clots I would advise you see your Dr asap...as there may be some retained products of conception

yes it is fine to try again with the next cycle...good luck

    Hi Jaapie

i am sorry to hear of your loss i lost my little girl at 23 weeks and i beed for just over 2 weeks i think everyone is different i wouldnt worry to much yet i think people can bleed for up to 3 wks my sister did, when i had my son harvey i bleed for 9 weeks after having him but that was a healthy pregnancy and i went to full term but everyone is different but if you are concerened go and see your GP as to your next period it might not come exactly 4 weeks later as you body will be getting back to normal and your hormones will settle down but all depends on how quickly your body returns to normal good luck with TTC and hope i helped a little.

So sorry to hear about your loss
I had about a week of bleeding, then about 3 days of light spotting, then nothing, then one day of spotting (probably to make sure everything got out) and then nothing since

I'm so sorry for your loss.

My baby stopped developing at 6w2d and I lost it at 8. I bled for 20 days (including spotting). I also had the bleeding taper off for awhile and then come back again. I think everyone is different. Just keep an eye on it.

I'm so sorry for your loss

I've had 2 of my 4 m/c's this year, both times I bled for just under 3 weeks.

Hoping you can get back to trying again soon.

i had 2 m/c, i bled for about 2 weeks each time. If you are concerned at all though, it's always best to ask your doc, even if is just to put your mind at ease.
Hope you are feeling better soon. x

Everyone is different. With my first m/c I bled for 2 weeks straight, 2nd & 3rd ones spotted for a few days then bled for 2 or 3 but all of mine have been early m/c's. Some ladies bleed for several weeks but most have finished up by two weeks. Sorry to hear of your loss.

    Jaapie,

Very sorry to hear of your loss.
I'm not sure how long it would have taken for me to get AF after my loss, as I fell PG again straight away.
But I bled for less than a week - it was a little like just having a normal AF (as someone said above me).

    Best of luck to you!!

So sorry to hear about your loss.

I lost mine at 7 weeks and I bled for a week, then everything stopped - I'm almost 7 weeks out of m/c and I'm STILL waiting for AF
    Big hugs for you!

Kottenkandie: I didn't realise you could fall Pregnant straight away without waiting for AF? that's great for you and I'm guessing it is all going well? Did you know if you were Ovulating or was it just great luck My Dr says we should wait a cycle so we have been using protection to make sure But part of me just doesn't want to and hope it happens.

    Heya Dawneee,
Yep, all is going well! I think I was lucky - pure and simple. I didn't imagine I would conceive again so quickly!
My doctor said I should wait, for dating and emotional reasons, but health-wise I was fine to TTC whenever I felt up to it. I also miscarried naturally - not sure if that makes a difference.

    Anyway...

    Oopsie to the thread hijack!!

I had an ectopic pregnancy in June 2007. I started bleeding a week before I found out I was pregnant. The bleeding I had continued for 7 weeks after my surgery and it was only when I would wipe myself at the toilet, but there was alot of blood. There is no set time for the bleeding period. I only got my first period at 10 weeks after my surgery. My doctor informed me it varies for everybody and can be normal to bleed up to 3 months. He also informed me that a period can take up to 3 months to come. My first period has been very emotional and painful but at the same time I am relieved it has come, I feel that I can have some normality back in my life.
Hang in there, my thoughts are with you. It is a strange and difficult period of not knowing mixed with a lot of emotions.
