Just wondering as we embark on the TTC journey again are there any foods that may enhance a nice sticky buba? I know about what to avoid.. and I am taking my elevit...
I know it may sound silly and I know there is no magical food - but I just want to have a health baby
Good post. I dont have an answer but would like to see what others say as we would like another next year i want my body in tip top condition.
What foods do you avoid?
From the research I did before I started TTC I found that there was a lot of evidence to support a paleo/primal/whole foods diet. particularly for those with PCOS (like me!)
Google those terms and fertility/infertility and see what info you get!
Apparently protein and folates are good for TTc'ers. I just did a quick google search.
Go Heavy on Protein and Folates
Choose meals that include protein sources such as:
Fish
Poultry
Lean meat
Beans and lentils
Nut butters (such as peanut, almond, or cashew butter) as well as seeds and nuts
A generous portion of whole-grain products
Low-fat dairy products
Also look for foods rich in folates, such as:
Lentils
Oatmeal
Pinto and navy beans
Asparagus
Spinach
Orange juice
Say No to Artificial Sweetners
Although the scientific evidence is scant regarding the safety of artificial sweeteners and pregnancy, it's better to play it safe than to enter unknown artificial territory.
To please the sweet tooth, try these healthy alternatives:
Frozen bananas
Fruit smoothies
Naturally sweetened, nonfat frozen or regular yogurt
Low-fat, naturally sweetened sorbet
Fresh fruit
Also, get hubby to take a multivitamin to make sure his zinc levels are good. Last time we were TTC we learnt it takes alot of Zinc to make healthy swimmers. And if you can try every few days, fresh swimmers are the best (my GP makes me laugh)
Nothing2lose - I couldn't drink the light milk anyway. I can't stand the taste of it lol. But that's very interesting. I'm going to google that study. And peas who'd have thought?
Lolpigs - My DH is on zinc, pumpkin seeds, goji berries, Aleo vera juice and folic acid. That's all part of our FS supplements. I'm on a concoctin of supplements too lol. Whatever work hey?
Thay also say avoid caffeine. Easy for me I can't stand cofee lol.
